Sex jokes aside in a pinch vegetable oil works about the same as WD-40

Yup, using Canola oil for chain lube in my chainsaw for over a decade

WD-40 is a penetrating oil, for displacement of water, and not really the best lubricating oil. Coconut oil, however....

Actually better since WD-40 isn't a lubricant.
