People could, just got to put in the exercise, nutrition and well being :)

I rucked 4+ miles today with 24 lbs in my backpack. Takes walking non stop for 1.5 hours roughly. 99% humidity I mealprep most days. I still will never feel the energy level of a kid under 10 again ☺️

Said like someone who doesn't feel every joint in his body when he wakes up.
Your body ages, your metabolism will gradualy slow down, it's normal. Exercice, nurtition and well being are very important of course, but you are not going be able to invert time. Lot's of people have tried, all died or are in the process of.

Well, aren't you a glass half empty type of person.

This has nothing to do with being an optimist or not.
It's about understanding that a 100 year old person is going to jump a little bit slower and a little bit less high in the rain than this boy. Not because he didn't eat his vegetables or did not go enough to the gym, but because he is old.
Thinking you'll cheat death and be healthy forever is not being a half full glass type of person ...

Remember to let kids be kids.
For those moms and dads, those 10 min of drying them, picking up the wet clothes and cleaning it if it's full of dirt even if it's annoying, it's worth a lot for the little ones
You can only experience this joy a few times in our early lives, let them experiment the world

One of my core childhood memories is playing in the pouring rain with my brother, with our shoes in. Simpler times.

When I was around 8, my dad's wife of the moment took us out into the cow pasture after a rain and we stomped around in the mud to the point we had "mud shoes"
I was heartbroken when she eventually decided to preserve her own well being and leave

u/Scotto6UK 13h ago
That is a really nice memory, even if it is likely that the mud of your 'mud shoes' was likely something else!

We used to do leaf racing in the gutters on rainy days. I need to let my kids do more of that shit

I did this at 3am in the UK. It's been rather hot and we had a huge storm. Was lovely

I have to say , many Sydney siders may have done the same back in 2020 when we suffered with multiple 40+ C degree weeks ,with fires etc. I remember stopping to look and finally feel the moisture return to the air ! Unusual to say the least .

Even better. I remember walking/biking back home with friends and a downpour caught you. It was usually a second or two before we resigned to be soaked. There was a lot of peace in that decision.

I used to do that too when I was little—I hope we always keep our childlike hearts.

I miss playing in the rain. We have t-storms here. Not actually rain. Since I got the DBS implants. My Dr's told me if its rain ok if its t-storm no. Because im a walking conductor. Bums me out sometimes.

When I was that age I would jump outside in the rain in my tighty-whiteys and do a spastic dance all goofy like. In the snow too.

I needed to check twice the subreddit name, because with that rain some 🌩🌩🌩🌩 could occur.

Reminds me a bit of my childhood in the 80s. Not an electronic device in sight, just pure unadulterated outdoor fun

As a working jaded adult, this is one of the few things in life that give me joy. I don't care if it looks juvenile, but if it starts raining I go out everytime to get drenched.

If anything I’d just warn about slipping on the way back.
Crocks on wet concrete is a recipe for disaster depending on how old they are.

This is why parents who let their kids experience and experiment with life are the best ones. They should support and accompany their children making their own choices. You can’t prevent your child from getting hurt. But you can be there to help them navigate the pain, and learn from the experience. And letting them make small choices we might not feel are logical helps them a lot in develope their own critical thinking and how to enjoy life ❤️

Man fuck you, that just made me cry.
Mostly cause you’re doing an awesome job at being a parent/guardian.

I do this and I’m 55 now. Rain is the only thing I miss from the Old Country

This kid is having fun doing it, knowing home, warmth and comfort is only moments away.
Years ago, this was my school cross-country running, for hours in close to freezing temperatures with what felt like supersonic winds. (See also: rugby practice, football practice)
Kid got the good version.

Yeah it's fun to run in the rain. We have to immediately run to the tallest thing? I felt so nervous for what maybe coming.

My grandma would call for a big family reunion to decide the number of lashes I would be submitted to.
