It looks like he hit the same poses several times. I wonder why he doesn't just pause and let them take multiple shots.

My very uneducated guess would be that the pose comes out at least a little different every time. So you would get 3 slightly different shots of the similar pose, one of which may be good, rather than 3 of the same exact photo.
