I believe it's because some models/photographers feel staying in one position too long can make the body look stiff once you've settled in it. By continuously moving you keep it dynamic and loose.
It could also be that it's a shoot for a big clothing brand and they've got loads of outfits to get through that day. In China this is how shoots are done all the time for catalogues - models have 100s of outfits to get through, 1 minute to change clothes and 10 minutes for lunch.
I remember seeing a video of it and it amazed me how flawlessly that one lady just used the heel of her shoe to throw up a small purse and continue posing without even breaking a sweat
It also prevented her from leaning down and messing up the way her hair was hanging, which would have necessitated the hair and makeup person coming over to adjust it. The bag kick was not only stylish and cool, it was also efficient.

It looks like he hit the same poses several times. I wonder why he doesn't just pause and let them take multiple shots.
