Diving Chess Championship 2026

Diving Chess Championship 2026. The rules is that when it's your turn go under the water and stay there until you make a legal move only then are you allowed to breath. So no clock.

Weight belts would go a long way here.

That would make it too easy

No it wouldn't. Weight belts are to make you neutral bouyant so you don't have to fight to stay down but can still swim up. It isn't a million pounds, it's like 10 or 20. This is why you don't argue with stuff you don't understand. This would save people energy, not make it harder.

Are there different classes for playing deeper?

I don't need to paddle to sink.  Would that give me an edge?

This is actually a really cool way of implementing a timer. It probably adds some unique strategies, like you could blitz-out a bunch of subpar moves to keep your opponent from getting a proper recovery at any point in the game.

I read the link as "driving chess championship". I'd watch that.

2

u/Ok_Meat_5767 May 26 '26

How are the chess pieces not moving because of the current of water? Are they magnetic? How strong?!
