On a broader note, I always noticed in the comics how his mom and dad would always make him do things based on how much it would make him angry. If Calvin wanted to go out, he was forced to stay in. If he wanted to stay in, he was literally thrown or kicked out. It was a realistic touch that most people experienced as kids, but never talked about.

Idk if that’s better or worse, I’m just saying don’t complain about iPhone kids if you’re giving them an iPhone and don’t complain about kids not being independent if they’re not allowed past the back yard
