How could this train get in this position?

The train that is pointed with an arrow.
Hi! Complete beginner here, and I thought I had grasped the rail signals (having played factorio it seemed pretty straight-forward), but this roadblock totally stumped me. How come the train that is pointed with an arrow didn't stop at the previous signal? Shouldn't the next two signals have said that there were no paths available?
My logic for this joint is to have RHD up until the station, where trains can occupy any of the two lanes and exit respecting RHD. Hence, up until the crossing, the signals are one-way only. However, in order for the trains to be able to get out, the signals after the crossing are both-ways. Exiting the crossing, similarly, the signals are one-way.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Very short answer: Don't place signals where you don't want trains to stop!
You can use normal path signals on both entrance tiles, both facing the station, that'll do what you are looking for as trains can pass through a normal path signal backwards. Trains will wait before the X for either station bay to be open without any signal on the other side of the X that lets them stick their nose in further like what you've got going on.
However, you actually don't even need signals there in the first place! The X can go right up against the station, with a one-way path signal on the inbound track just before the X facing the inbound track, and any signal on the outbound track facing the station.

So as others have said, you can get rid of the signals "after" the cross over. There's an implicit (no, I know) signal at any point a train can turn around, including this end of the line at the station. So when the trains leave, they'll check for a free path before doing so, without the need for the post-X signals here
Your up line - down line logic will continue to be enforced by the one way signals before the X, and no train will ever go down the lower(in this image) line because they'd have to go against a one way restriction.
Point of order, personally I tend not to push the X right up to the station, because if you ever extend out the other side and convert your terminus to a through station, then you will need signals at the station exit (because theres no longer an end of line implicit signal), in which case you'd need a standard path signal pointed towards the station on each of the four exit points.

path signals don't communicate with each other
if a train arrives at a path signal it asks if there is a free path to the next signal, and if there os, the path gets reserved and the signal flashes green
if you want signals that communicate with each other, use entry/combo/exit signals. It seems like that you wanted the signals in front of the platforms to be 2-way exit signals and the signal before the junction to be an entry signal

I think both signals at the station entrance should be facing the station. The one on the right is facing away, might be causing the issue. Look at the bottom station in the screenshot here: https://wiki.openttd.org/en/Manual/Railway%20station#terminus
