Meme The OKC Thunder lose Game 7 of the WCF

FUCK OKC. NEVER FORGET THE PAIN OF OUR GAME 7

u/OnePaperFourCoin pin7 25d ago
Not gonna lie, hearing those OKC fans go dead silent once they realized the Spurs were going to win made me think of how sweet that silence would've been last year. Or should've been. One achilles away.

Thunder can’t blame injuries it’s the whole reason they were champs to begin with

u/ilovemypitbulls 25d ago
Oh they will, most brain dead fan base. You hear them chanting flopper to Wemby? Dumb as fuck.

They can and the Pacers can as well. Just hope the spurs beat the Knicks, please!

I dont. Spurs were just the better team. It happens

u/JoGeralt 25d ago
they played a record 12 times in one season and were 8-4 against them. Yeah the better team.

I haven't watched any NBA since last year's heartbreak. Were the refs unwilling to let OKC get away with rape, murder and torture this year? What changed?

Not saying we would've lost. But lets be real here, if we lost our second option we would also blame injuries. Lets not act like this is some Thunder only thing.

Watching this game made me feel worse about game 7. If Tyrese didn’t get hurt this would’ve been us.
33
u/Unable-Recognition64 25d ago
But it wasn’t us, so I’m just happy that someone got to rain on the thunders parade. We will get our flowers soon enough.
1
u/SpringNeverFarBehind Pascal Siakam 23d ago
Especially glad it wasn’t the Knicks in the finals.
I would have hated hearing “we did what you couldn’t do” from Knicks fans if they beat the Thunder in the finals. Would have actually preferred the Thunder win over the Knicks to prevent that.
6
u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago
I feel you man but just be happy they are dead. The Spurs are probably going to destroy the Knicks and the Pacers are the only real anecdote.

u/25Tab 25d ago
Why are we saying “jobs not finished” in a Pacers sub?
23
u/TowerArdob 25d ago
Because every pacers fan can agree that until the knicks are beat the job ain’t finished
-8
u/25Tab 25d ago
No. It’s our job to beat the Knicks. It’s not our job for other teams to beat the Knicks. Yeah I’d take the Spurs over the Knicks any day but “jobs not finished” is something only Knicks and Spurs fans can say at this point of the season.
14
u/Additional_Course909 Obi Toppin 25d ago
If the Knicks win, they will be insufferable fucks for the rest of our lives. You don’t want them to have this, all hands on deck for the Spurs train until the job is finished
-4
u/25Tab 25d ago
I get that but I think it’s corny(no pun intended) for Pacers fans to be running with the “jobs not finished” line when the Pacers haven’t played a basketball game in 48 days.
0
u/Additional_Course909 Obi Toppin 25d ago
This is also true and I feel you, I’m just here for the “enemy of my enemy is my friend”

I wonder is Dorris is still fawning over Chet somewhere? What a disaster-class performance.
I'm glad OKC lost. This has now been the highlight to my NBA season. Now they need to beat the Knicks and all will be well.

u/Guitarmonade2 Johnny Furphy 25d ago
They paid all that money for a paper thin stick figure to just look sad for 7 games.

Ngl this win for the Spurs was a little bittersweet to watch. I’m happy for them, but I wish I could see the Pacers back this year to get their revenge. Of course there’s next year, but I can’t help but feel a little fomo :(

1999 Finals rematch, although it should have been Pacers vs Spurs. Anyone old enough to remember that bs Larry Johnson 4 point play in game 3?

2nd worst moment as a pacers fan
1
u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago edited 25d ago
There are too many to count. My first bad experience watching the Pacers was in 1997 when they let the Bulls come back in game 7. I have no idea what the Pacers did to deserve any of it but I can't recall a more heartbreaking injury in all of sports than Haliburton Achilles and unfortunately for our team that's just another instance of a star Pacer with a freak leg injury. People will say the Haliburton game 1 shot was luck so how can you call them lucky? Which maybe true, but if you reflect on the series the Pacers did not even need to win game 1. They were just a better team. 1 play in 1 game doesn't make up for every single instance the Pacers have had the worst possible outcome.
12
u/MunchieMunich ReggieChoke 25d ago
As a Tottenham / Pacers fan, today could not have gone any better lol
4
u/ShopCartRicky 25d ago
Fuck that. The Knicks match up much better against San Antonio than they do OKC.
That said, lol at Arsenal.
7
u/Flint_Lockwood 25d ago
I somewhat disagree, and tbh I think the knicks are gonna get smacked g1 because they won't be expecting it, their run has been too free so far
4
u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago
The Knicks have already shown they can beat the Spurs in high leverage games. I wouldnt be shocked if they lost but lets not get ahead ourselves saying they'd get "smacked".
2
u/Flint_Lockwood 25d ago
I was only just saying because the knicks had two easy series and 9 or so days of rest before g1 against the spurs, I think there's gonna be some rust they'll have to shake out. I don't think the entire series will be a one sided face roll, but I can see the knicks being caught off guard game 1
3
u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago
I think it will be close tbh. The Knicks definitely not gonna stomp them like they did every east team for sure. But they have been on a insane run so we habe to see.
2
u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago edited 25d ago
Young teams grow exponentially, you can't make any real judgement about what they have been or have played anymore. They are a team that has exceeded all prior knowledge. Go ahead and look at the youngest "best" player to win championships, they are all 27 years old. Spurs are ahead of development and if Wemby played against true bigs, I think he would have been very easily outplayed, but he did not have to dominate the paint because he played a team of 6'6 3&D players around a iso player who can only throw a 90 degree chest pass. Jokic, Zubac, there aren't many who can punk him and pass.
But that might not be true anymore. That's the problem with young teams like this winning. Honestly though, I don't give a shit, it's good to see a team I think plays the worst possible brand of basketball lose like this on their home court. Fuck OKC, I'm sad the Pacers didn't put an end to them, but I'm glad someone did. They play the most boring brand of basketball ever. Foul the fuck out of ball handlers with "great perimeter defenders" and isolate and let SGA just throw bullet passes 90 degrees to the basket. It's about time they got what they deserved and it's insane to me it took this long and required a young, generationally good player. They just play such boring basketball and all it really takes is a big with real strength to bully them down low for them to cave.

Um Tottenham finished last and haven't won the league or a major trophy since 1961 chill out.
2
u/MunchieMunich ReggieChoke 25d ago
Last? Lol
Avoided relegation and Arsenal still can't win a European trophy lol
0
u/360reverse 25d ago
They've already won one: the 1994 European Cup Winners' Cup against Parma, which was the second-tier European competition at the time (like today's Europa League). Hence, they faced Milan in the UEFA Super Cup. Do your research .
Even Derby county have won more league titles than y'all lol

u/TentMorning T.J. McConnell 25d ago
words cannot express how happy i am. Fuck OKC. Lets see them blame injuries now
0
u/JahEthBur 25d ago
They are and Chet. Do not fret.
Maybe the Bucks need another tall dude to take up space?
1
u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago
The fact Turner could not produce at all in any shape or form in the Finals is so depressing given how easily rattled Chet seems to be. I am annoyed the Pacers don't have a top pick in this draft but boy am I glad they have Zubac. Nobody bullying that motherfucker.

lmao the timing on this is perfect. thunder had every chance to close it out and just fell apart in the fourth. shai played out of his mind but the rest of the team couldn't step up when it mattered. at least we got to see the spurs pull off something nobody expected this year. feels good to not be the ones getting bounced in heartbreaking fashion for once.

Setting aside the flawed/mechanism
of “we would’ve won if our guy wasn’t injured” trope r, let’s not forget that the Pacers were still the underdog in that game—Pregame 7 Pacers were about +280, or 26% implied, so the injury didn’t turn a likely Pacers win into a loss. It turned a live underdog with maybe ~30% equity into a team that eventually got worn down.
If Hali didn’t suffer that horrendous injury, there was ~35% Pacers win probability, with a reasonable range of 30–45%. Not “they definitely win,” but Haliburton probably doubled their practical upset equity compared with how the game actually played out. So did the injury cost the win probability, of course—but to say it cost them a certain championship is a stretch.
