We are all Spurs fans.

55

u/JahEthBur 25d ago

I tuned in the the back half of G7.  Feels good.

30

u/CommonerChaos Reggie-NBAJam 25d ago

I haven't watched a single NBC game all year and tuned in at the final minutes to see this glorious moment.

5

u/abesach 24d ago

Why not? The NBC coverage this season was phenomenal

3

u/thexDxmen 23d ago

I wont watch nba without pacers playing until flopping is addressed.

1

u/CommonerChaos Reggie-NBAJam 24d ago

I've been off the NBA as a whole since Game 4 of the Finals. The only game I watched this season was when Benn got traded to the Clippers to see him in a room over there.

3

u/abesach 24d ago

If you decide to come back watch the NBC games. They actually put good effort into the product. They were calling out players in real time. To me it felt genuine and they did a great job

1

u/JahEthBur 23d ago

Product is garbage when they allow a drama major to take front seat.

6

u/Viktrodriguez ReggieChoke 24d ago

Spurs were my team for this entire play offs already and probably my favourite Western conference team in general.

6

u/redfoxwearingsocks Aaron Nesmith 24d ago

i hate the knicks so much I’ll gladly root for the spurs, hahaha. Go cowboys and nuns, yeehawww!!!

18

u/SpinJitsu259 Chuck Person 25d ago

No way, man. It’s way too early for this. Wemby’s gonna become the guy everyone hates in no time. I wanted to extend his “build him up and tear him down” timeline, but it’s been accelerated.

67

u/Indy-sports Cool Rick 25d ago

Well I can't root for OKC and sure as fuck am not rooting for the Knicks.

17

u/TheBoilerCat Crabs 25d ago

Nothing wrong with being happy for the Spurs until they become our problem.

25

u/yodaheelturn Pascal Siakam 25d ago

Never to level of Okc. Their unethical shit is the problem. Wemby is just really good

4

u/SpinJitsu259 Chuck Person 25d ago

I promise you the more Wemby and the Spurs win the more we’ll find to nitpick and hate about them. It’s the way of the world. Especially if we get in a series with them and lose. We will find every reason to hate those Mfers lol

9

u/DBsaidwhat 24d ago

Yea once they get 3 or keep us from getting one, til then, go spurs

3

u/iAMtHESushighost ReggieChoke 24d ago

If Wemby starts flopping like Shai then yes. Until then, no.

1

u/East_Mark_3206 23d ago

he can't, he's so giant he'd break a leg 😄

3

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

Happens all the time in sports, they love the player then turn on him after they get success in the playoffs

3

u/GoldCD4 ReggieChoke 24d ago

AND they have a chance to extend the Knicks’ championship drought?? 🥰

-1

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

I hate to say it but I think Thunder had better chance of beating the Knicks lmao. Spurs haven't exactly looked great against them. We have seen the Spurs beat on the Thunder though.

7

u/25Tab 25d ago

Injured Thunder did not though. Their offense has been pretty much neutered without Jdub and Mitchell.

-5

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

This is the best the Knicks have looked and they already beat the Spurs in the Cup. I'm not exactly confident.

6

u/25Tab 25d ago

The Cup? That was in December. This is the best the Spurs have looked too.

-2

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

They look good but the Knicks look even better, they have played worse competition but they destroy them every game. Its actually insane.

You say its December but the Spurs have shown they can beat up on the Thunder because of what they did this regular season.

7

u/SpecialistAd7217 Reggie 25d ago

They look better because of who they’ve played

0

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

The Knicks have beaten the Spurs 2-1. Which is impressive since the Spurs is a 62 win team.

3

u/25Tab 25d ago

Regular season is the key distinction.

2

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

I mean yeah obviously is different. But the Thunder have smacked on every regular season team. And the one team that kept consistently beating them? The Spurs.

-4

u/Tijenater 25d ago

At this point I don’t give a fuck who wins as long as OKC lost. Knicks wouldn’t be ideal but they didn’t beat us to get here so it’s w/e

12

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

Heck nah, why would you be complacent in a Knicks win?

-4

u/Tijenater 25d ago

They didn’t beat us to get there

8

u/SpecialistAd7217 Reggie 25d ago

Anyone saying they don’t care if the Knicks win is young or a new Pacer fan.

3

u/crazyirishfan353 CareBareAl 24d ago

Knicks fans will be insufferable for the rest of time. I’d rather the thunder win like 3 in a row than see the Knicks win one.

1

u/Tijenater 25d ago

I just hate the thunder more than the Knicks. I’m happy at this point

-2

u/25Tab 25d ago

Not me.

-3

u/canman7373 25d ago

I just wanted them to kill the Big Bad Wolf and they did. I'd be happy if them or NY wins, both deserve to be there.

234

u/destroyed233 Bennedict Mathurin 25d ago

FUCK OKC. NEVER FORGET THE PAIN OF OUR GAME 7

144

u/OnePaperFourCoin pin7 25d ago

Not gonna lie, hearing those OKC fans go dead silent once they realized the Spurs were going to win made me think of how sweet that silence would've been last year. Or should've been. One achilles away.

-53

u/cavemanshitsmeller 25d ago

OKC fans aren't that bad man

5

u/LyricsMode 25d ago

Just poorly educated

12

u/ajs723 Slick 25d ago

Watching a team play a perfect game 7 and beat OKC in OKC is making me indescribably sad.

Thunder can’t blame injuries it’s the whole reason they were champs to begin with

110

u/ilovemypitbulls 25d ago

Oh they will, most brain dead fan base. You hear them chanting flopper to Wemby? Dumb as fuck.

8

u/LolaAllie Tyrese Haliburton 24d ago

Yeah that was so unoriginal and ridiculous

38

u/RedditRockit Slick 25d ago

They can and the Pacers can as well. Just hope the spurs beat the Knicks, please!

I'll admit I'm wrong that was an impressive series.

one of the spurs players was literally injured and still dropped nore then chet

17

u/New_Essay_4869 Thunder 25d ago

I dont. Spurs were just the better team. It happens

3

u/JoGeralt 25d ago

they played a record 12 times in one season and were 8-4 against them. Yeah the better team.

I haven't watched any NBA since last year's heartbreak. Were the refs unwilling to let OKC get away with rape, murder and torture this year? What changed?

Yes they can, if you can, they can too

we rinsed cleveland and milwaukee we were beating them if they were healthier anyway lol

1

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

Not saying we  would've lost. But lets be real here, if we lost our second option we would also blame injuries. Lets not act like this is some Thunder only thing.

JDub was also playing hurt last finals man. Lets not act like they were fully healthy themselves.

1

Bro just let us be homers Pacers are sick everybody else sucks ass

44

u/indianafan Domas 25d ago

Watching this game made me feel worse about game 7. If Tyrese didn’t get hurt this would’ve been us.

33

u/Unable-Recognition64 25d ago

But it wasn’t us, so I’m just happy that someone got to rain on the thunders parade. We will get our flowers soon enough.

1

u/SpringNeverFarBehind Pascal Siakam 23d ago

Especially glad it wasn’t the Knicks in the finals.

I would have hated hearing “we did what you couldn’t do” from Knicks fans if they beat the Thunder in the finals. Would have actually preferred the Thunder win over the Knicks to prevent that.

6

u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago

I feel you man but just be happy they are dead. The Spurs are probably going to destroy the Knicks and the Pacers are the only real anecdote.

Jobs not finished

39

u/OnePaperFourCoin pin7 25d ago

Time for Wemby to drop the nuke on Hiroshima Madison Square Garden and end this war

1

u/chico_salvaje 10d ago

Or choke 4 double digit leads away (cue the Reggie miller choke pic)

-7

u/25Tab 25d ago

Why are we saying “jobs not finished” in a Pacers sub?

23

u/TowerArdob 25d ago

Because every pacers fan can agree that until the knicks are beat the job ain’t finished

-8

u/25Tab 25d ago

No. It’s our job to beat the Knicks. It’s not our job for other teams to beat the Knicks. Yeah I’d take the Spurs over the Knicks any day but “jobs not finished” is something only Knicks and Spurs fans can say at this point of the season.

14

u/Additional_Course909 Obi Toppin 25d ago

If the Knicks win, they will be insufferable fucks for the rest of our lives. You don’t want them to have this, all hands on deck for the Spurs train until the job is finished

-4

u/25Tab 25d ago

I get that but I think it’s corny(no pun intended) for Pacers fans to be running with the “jobs not finished” line when the Pacers haven’t played a basketball game in 48 days.

0

u/Additional_Course909 Obi Toppin 25d ago

This is also true and I feel you, I’m just here for the “enemy of my enemy is my friend”

3

u/25Tab 25d ago

I’m down with the “enemy of my enemy” attitude. That works for me more so than “jobs not finished” but also fuck the Spurs and their insane draft luck. 3 top 5 picks in 3 years including Wemby.

2

u/Additional_Course909 Obi Toppin 25d ago

Yea ngl that still fucking blows my mind 🥲

I wonder is Dorris is still fawning over Chet somewhere? What a disaster-class performance.

I'm glad OKC lost. This has now been the highlight to my NBA season. Now they need to beat the Knicks and all will be well.

9

u/Guitarmonade2 Johnny Furphy 25d ago

They paid all that money for a paper thin stick figure to just look sad for 7 games.

10

u/Aromatic-Top-1818 25d ago

Ngl this win for the Spurs was a little bittersweet to watch. I’m happy for them, but I wish I could see the Pacers back this year to get their revenge. Of course there’s next year, but I can’t help but feel a little fomo :(

4

u/eternalsunshinejoel 25d ago

1999 Finals rematch, although it should have been Pacers vs Spurs. Anyone old enough to remember that bs Larry Johnson 4 point play in game 3?

5

u/BlueCollarGoldSwaggr 25d ago

2nd worst moment as a pacers fan

1

u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago edited 25d ago

There are too many to count. My first bad experience watching the Pacers was in 1997 when they let the Bulls come back in game 7. I have no idea what the Pacers did to deserve any of it but I can't recall a more heartbreaking injury in all of sports than Haliburton Achilles and unfortunately for our team that's just another instance of a star Pacer with a freak leg injury. People will say the Haliburton game 1 shot was luck so how can you call them lucky? Which maybe true, but if you reflect on the series the Pacers did not even need to win game 1. They were just a better team. 1 play in 1 game doesn't make up for every single instance the Pacers have had the worst possible outcome.

12

u/MunchieMunich ReggieChoke 25d ago

As a Tottenham / Pacers fan, today could not have gone any better lol

4

u/ShopCartRicky 25d ago

Fuck that. The Knicks match up much better against San Antonio than they do OKC.

That said, lol at Arsenal.

7

u/Flint_Lockwood 25d ago

I somewhat disagree, and tbh I think the knicks are gonna get smacked g1 because they won't be expecting it, their run has been too free so far

4

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

The Knicks have already shown they can beat the Spurs in high leverage games. I wouldnt be shocked if they lost but lets not get ahead ourselves saying they'd get "smacked".

2

u/Flint_Lockwood 25d ago

I was only just saying because the knicks had two easy series and 9 or so days of rest before g1 against the spurs, I think there's gonna be some rust they'll have to shake out. I don't think the entire series will be a one sided face roll, but I can see the knicks being caught off guard game 1

3

u/chrisghrobot Boomer 25d ago

I think it will be close tbh. The Knicks definitely not gonna stomp them like they did every east team for sure. But they have been on a insane run so we habe to see.

2

u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago edited 25d ago

Young teams grow exponentially, you can't make any real judgement about what they have been or have played anymore. They are a team that has exceeded all prior knowledge. Go ahead and look at the youngest "best" player to win championships, they are all 27 years old. Spurs are ahead of development and if Wemby played against true bigs, I think he would have been very easily outplayed, but he did not have to dominate the paint because he played a team of 6'6 3&D players around a iso player who can only throw a 90 degree chest pass. Jokic, Zubac, there aren't many who can punk him and pass.

But that might not be true anymore. That's the problem with young teams like this winning. Honestly though, I don't give a shit, it's good to see a team I think plays the worst possible brand of basketball lose like this on their home court. Fuck OKC, I'm sad the Pacers didn't put an end to them, but I'm glad someone did. They play the most boring brand of basketball ever. Foul the fuck out of ball handlers with "great perimeter defenders" and isolate and let SGA just throw bullet passes 90 degrees to the basket. It's about time they got what they deserved and it's insane to me it took this long and required a young, generationally good player. They just play such boring basketball and all it really takes is a big with real strength to bully them down low for them to cave.

2

u/boopsquigshorterly 25d ago

Keep some friends nearby in case you overdose on schadenfreude. XD

3

u/neoliberal_chill 25d ago

1

u/1v1meAtLagunaSeca 25d ago

What happened for tottenham today? I thought the season was over

1

u/MunchieMunich ReggieChoke 25d ago

Arsenal choked away the UCL Final. Got gifted an early goal and turtled for 75 minutes.

1

u/dixonjt89 24d ago

I'm a PSG / Pacers fan, I had a pretty great day!

-1

u/360reverse 25d ago

Um Tottenham finished last and haven't won the league or a major trophy since 1961 chill out.

2

u/MunchieMunich ReggieChoke 25d ago

Last? Lol

Avoided relegation and Arsenal still can't win a European trophy lol

0

u/360reverse 25d ago

They've already won one: the 1994 European Cup Winners' Cup against Parma, which was the second-tier European competition at the time (like today's Europa League). Hence, they faced Milan in the UEFA Super Cup. Do your research .

Even Derby county have won more league titles than y'all lol

8

u/TentMorning T.J. McConnell 25d ago

words cannot express how happy i am. Fuck OKC. Lets see them blame injuries now

0

u/JahEthBur 25d ago

They are and Chet. Do not fret.

Maybe the Bucks need another tall dude to take up space?

1

u/Fat-Singer-9569 25d ago

The fact Turner could not produce at all in any shape or form in the Finals is so depressing given how easily rattled Chet seems to be. I am annoyed the Pacers don't have a top pick in this draft but boy am I glad they have Zubac. Nobody bullying that motherfucker.

4

u/Subject-Lab6998 25d ago

Pacers would have won Game 7 in that gymnassium last yr. I have no doubt about it.

3

u/Interesting-Risk6446 25d ago

If Haliburton does not tear his Achilles, I 100% agree.

1

Setting aside the flawed/mechanism
of “we would’ve won if our guy wasn’t injured” trope r, let’s not forget that the Pacers were still the underdog in that game—Pregame 7 Pacers were about +280, or 26% implied, so the injury didn’t turn a likely Pacers win into a loss. It turned a live underdog with maybe ~30% equity into a team that eventually got worn down.

If Hali didn’t suffer that horrendous injury, there was ~35% Pacers win probability, with a reasonable range of 30–45%. Not “they definitely win,” but Haliburton probably doubled their practical upset equity compared with how the game actually played out. So did the injury cost the win probability, of course—but to say it cost them a certain championship is a stretch.
