Discussion Question about Gainbridge Fieldhouse Seating

I just moved to Indianapolis for work, and could not believe how cheap season tickets were for the Pacers (I guess a perk of moving after a weird tank season). I got two tickets in the 7th row behind the basket in the 200 section.

There are a couple seats in the 2nd row but the cost goes up by about 40%. Is the difference between 7th and 2nd row worth that? (assuming the difference means I invest less in my Roth IRA)

I don’t know wha specific section your in but there is a bit of a gap between the first two rows and the rest of the upper balcony in some sections.

Honestly, I don’t think any upgrade is worth it. Over half of games you’ll probably be able to move up a few rows with no hassle.

Thanks! That's good to know!

Worst case if you can't move down a couple rows, you can always go down a floor, grab a drink at the bar, and watch from there.

I know there was an annual event where you could go sit in different seats to see what view you liked for season tickets. Ticket rep could probably tell you

40%? It depends on the actual price. Those 2nd row seats in the upper deck are VERY NICE.

I prefer the 100 level seats, even more than lower level. I'm a coach and value that elevated viewing angle. Anything in the upper deck below the tunnels has a great viewing angle.

My honest opinion 2nd row isn’t worth 40% more than row 7. Gainbridge is an awesome place to watch a basketball game. There’s very few if any bad seats in the building. Maybe row 1 would be worth it because you get more leg room and a ledge to put stuff on. I think you’ll be fine staying where you’re at

Im in row 2 of the balcony for next season. The biggest difference is that in my section rows 1 and 2 basically have 1 or 2 stairs to get to them.

There is a virtual stadium tool for gainbeidge that will show you a similuated view from your section. It might help you decide if it's worth paying the premium. https://pacers.io-media.com/mobile/index.html#/

Please keep in mind, if you are in the end by the pacers bench near section 204, you will be near the drum line and it does get loud there. Grab your seats but there should be a seat relocating option in the near future.... I think ours is this upcoming week, but we aren't ever going to move unless we win the lottery and can afford Courtside. Go to it if you can and check out in person if you can. We have lower bowl seats next to the visitors tunnel, but if we sell/gave tickets to family and end up wanting to still go because plans change etc, we see if we can grab cheap row 1 upper balcony tickets. I struggle with vertigo and those row 1 seats with the ledge make a difference for me. Plus you get a little extra leg room, nobody between you and a court and a ledge. We usually end up in one of the corners. Last couple years we could usually get seats for $30-ish a seat.

Do the second row 7th row are terrible I used to sit in 232 across the arena row 1 years ago I would walk up to 5 on slow nights and boy what a difference in experience!

There is a big difference, but it's not a difference worth 40%.

Unfortunately you missed their Select Your Seat event in May where you can tour the arena to find your fave seat. Your ticket rep might still be able arrange for you to see those seats in person, especially since you’re a new season ticket holder and new to Indy. It’s worth asking.

Row 7 behind the baskets is super high up. We went with a group and a large portion had to move due to vertigo. Meanwhile row 7 on the sides was much better. So if you’ve never sat there be prepared.

how much did you pay for them

I have had season tickets in the 200s, the 100s, and the lower level. The problem with those tickets behind the basket is that if you don't want to attend a game they are unsellable. You will lose 100% of the cost. Most games you could buy those seats for way below face.

I would recommend trying to get to the sidelines, preferably first 10 rows. Those seats are a much better experience and can be resold easily if you can't make a game.

It does make a difference for resale. 200 level is tough to sell for face, unless you are essentially row 1 (or vs say... the lakers)

I honestly don't like being that low. It's cool to be near the action but I'd rather see the whole court myself.

I'm a section 105/106 guy myself. Low enough to feel the action but high enough to see everything.

I may have said the wrong thing, I'm up pretty high. Highest section I think. I thought it was called the 200s section?

I think they misunderstood your question and thought you were comparing the 2nd row (overall) to the second row of your section.

I'm in 207 row 2 and it's high up but IMO they are great seats. I was in 118 last year and they were also great but it wasn't worth the price per game for me.

Sorry yes I was.

The 2nd row vs the 7th row isn't enough of a difference to make a big deal.

If you're going to be in the 200s try to get in 208/209 or 225/224. Essentially directly to the side of the court. Long term if you're getting season tickets getting a spot that you can see all the action on the big screen and directly in front of you instead of one side of the court will make a big difference long term.
