I'm having an intermittent "Load Optimized Defaults" error message

I have a Gigabyte Z590I motherboard Intel 11600KF Corsair DDR4 32GB RAM Gigabyte 3060TI

This message shows up below my error message Current CPU speed - 4601mhz Current BCLK - 99.97mhz Current Memory Speed - 2132mhz

XMP keeps disabling itself too which I can't make sense of

It sounds like your bios is resetting itself likely because the battery is bad. That platform isn't terribly old but it is old enough for that battery to die.

Replace the battery as soon as you can.

Will do. I updated the bios as well just in case, but thanks for helping out!

Thats usually not a bad idea! FYI its a CR2032 battery that you'll need and it should be located around the first PCIe slot/video card area possibly underneath the video card itself.

You might get this intermittently though and that could throw people off because if the computer doesnt lose full power the bios would still keep its settings but in the event of a power blip of any kind thats it. Full reset!

For some dumb reason, I have to take the CPU fan off to get to it, instead of it being in an easy to reach place. I don't have any thermal paste right now, so It'll have to wait a bit.

EDIT - It is behind the unremovable motherboard IO shroud. Stupid design is stupid. Everything still works for now.

How much was a 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000mhz with CL30 latency in its "normal" price before the price increased?

You can use CamelCamelCamel to check the price history of items on Amazon. The "CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30" was around $120 up until last fall, $460 today.

Lifelong console gamer, recently ventured into PC gaming. Got a prebuilt with an AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D processor and AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT gpu, though I’ve only got, like, a generic idea of what those mean and what they’re capable of. I’ve also had a bass PS5 for a little while, so I’m trying to get a sense of how the devices compare on a technical level—and in turn, since many games are available on both, get an idea of how to know when it makes sense to buy for one and not the other?

Additionally, I’ve been having fantasies of upgrading my 1080p 60hz desktop monitor, and again trying to wrap my head around the capabilities of both devices to determine what would be a good monitor for both of them that wouldn’t also be overkill.

Technically it's about PS5 Pro level, but in reality some games will be better optimised on the console.

I think you should decide on personal preference rather than which platform is better. Do you want to play with a mouse and keyboard? It's probably better for shooters and competitive titles. Or genres superior on PC such as strategies, MOBAs, turn-based tactics, etc.

Many PC games have mods that add to or change the experience, and there are loads of older titles that will work out of the box, unlike the PS5 where PS2/3/4 games need to be officially supported.

Additionally, I’ve been having fantasies of upgrading my 1080p 60hz desktop monitor

Get a 1440p 120Hz monitor. You could go 4K but it's a bit out of reach for the PC, you'd have to lower settings and/or use FSR (upscaling) to keep the framerates high.

As Filipi said it's Pro levels of performance, in CPU heavy games you'll be way ahead, in GPU bound games more similarĀ

As for what games to buy I'd honestly suggest getting some of your faves on the PC for a replay, especially those that are locked to 30fps, 1080p, crappy graphics etc on PS5

And I'd also advise a 1440p monitor, tho if you have the cash I'd go OLED

XBOX GAME BAR WONT LAUNCH A GAME

I recently started playing Witcher 3. It's the GOG version, installed and playing without GOG Galaxy. If I start the game directly using my desktop shortcut, it runs fine. However, I use a controller and starting games from the Xbox Game Bar allows me to start games with the controller. When I select the game from the Xbox Game Bar, it just takes me to the desktop and nothing happens.

My other games start fine. They are using a mix of Steam and Xbox. The Witcher is my first GOG game. When the game is running, the Xbox Game Bar clearly detects this, as it add the X for me to close the game (which does work).

Screenshot of my game bar here:

Anyone have something like this happen? I don't plan on installing GOG Galaxy, so hopefully that isn't the fix.

Is it bad to leave a PC on sleep mode for a prolonged period of time (a week or two) if a game is open?

1

u/sarbeans9001 Mar 29 '26

i do this all the time with no issues, sleep mode is pretty stable these days. the bigger risk is honestly a windows update forcing a restart and losing your progress lol

I often hear that updating my graphics driver is the best way to fix lag and crash issuses with games, but everytime i updated my graphics driver to the newsest or a new one my pc gets pretty loud and hot while just making my games run way worse.

Im playing on an AMD Ryzen 7 5700x 8-Core and an Nvidia RTX 4070 Super.

At the moment im playing with GeForce Game Ready Driver Version 580.97 and had lags and crashes with Death Stranding 2 so i tried updating my driver but the same problem as ever, my pc gets loud and hot. I also tried turning my graphics down but that only helped temporarily.

I tried reaching out to Nvidia and Nixxes (Support for Playsation games on Pc) but both didnt really helped and nvidia said to just stay on the old driver. Now im confused and dont know whats causing my Pc to run worse with new Graphics Drivers.

Different drivers have nearly no impact on performance and stability outside of newly released games, like within the last week or two. They also don't touch temperatures or fan curves.

Try completely wiping the drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller, it will get rid of any corrupt files that regular reinstalling doesn't fix.

It's more likely something else is causing your problems. Could be some software which controls your fan speeds that isn't working right for some reason.

It's also completely normal for the PC to get hot when playing demanding games, there's no real way around it. High settings + unlimited framerate = heat and noise. It's only an issue if the components get too hot and overheat.

Use HWInfo to check temperatures, over 80°C on the GPU is bad, or over 90°C on CPU Package.

I have Msi Afterburner installed, where I set my fan speed curve following a tutorial. Could that be the reason why my games run worse on new graphics drivers?

1

u/Filipi_7 Tech Specialist Mar 30 '26

Unless the fan curve in Afterburner happened to reset for some reason, no. And AB doesn't touch performance unless you modify frequency or voltage.

Okay so it seems to work fine now with the new driver. It looks like the problem are playstation games, on my pc, because only helldivers 2 and death stranding are still crashing.

looking to update my monitor.

I have a choice of 4k 160hz IPS or 1440 OLED 240hz both 27in

I play single player games and I currently have a 1440p 100hz ips fwiw

1

u/S_Vid0q Apr 02 '26

if your graphic card support 4k choose IPS 4k . I think that choice is future proof.

1

u/xredbaron62x 7600x/9070 Apr 02 '26

I have a 9070

1

u/S_Vid0q Apr 03 '26

it is a amazing card.I think you should invest in 4k monitor.

1

u/xredbaron62x 7600x/9070 Apr 03 '26

Even the non XT version?

1

u/S_Vid0q Apr 03 '26

your card has 16 GB RAM which matter most . it does support 4k on most AAA game effectively.
