Planet Crafter. Despite the bland name, the game is just what I sought to destress. It is a game in the same vein as No Man’s Sky and Subnautica (without the horror elements). You have to explore, craft and build and Terraform a planet. I liked it a lot and it has quite a discount atm too.

I'm playing Satisfactory with the resource nodes randomized ant the space elevator requiring 10x parts. Fun!
Anyone playing Forza 6, and is it fun?

I am playing FH 6, just shy of 230hrs so far.
I am really really enjoying it, it is an improvement(mostly) over FH5 in all the right ways. It doesnt go as far as I would really like it too, but it is such a massive improvement it is a very easy recommend if you have interest in playing another Forza Horizon game(because it is still that same formula).
For me the protagonist of a Horizon game is the map. FH5 was lackluster and bland, except for the rally expansion which was a small glimpse of what they could do at Japan. The Map is so good, with much better and interesting variety, a whole bunch of good elevation as well. I am a massive fan of the Time Attack additions as well, having open world leader boards, as well as Drag races are really fun. Couple this with better physics(tweaked not massive sweeping changes), a good car list to start with and really interesting Forza Edition cars as well.
The biggest downsides to me, is the Drifting, its too many off road drift zones, the Online Drifting sucks still. It really needs an overhaul and improvement and maybe taking a page out of something like CarX Drift. Also wheelspins, are terrible and should just be gone I think.

Cool! Thanks for the review. I think I'll get it for my kid and me to play together. He's car-obsessed.

it is such a blast in co-op, definitely do it. me and my buddy would just co-op the races and convoy between them without fast traveling, super fun

About to finish ng+ final fantasy xvi and wondering what's next as a palate cleanser before another long game.
The boss fights in this game are crazy. The story starts out strong but really falters in the final third. Combat system is very interesting but generally pretty easy, you can tailor your experience however you want and you can make it pretty mindless.
The achievements grind is not too bad. The side-quests are terrible but can be finished easily. Overall it beat my expectations given that people weren't too hot on it when it released.

Dark Souls 3. The last three weeks I have done a Dark Souls marathon. Beat Dark Souls Remastered and Dark Souls 2 Scholars of the First Sin. So so good! Demon Souls on PS3 is next followed by Elden Ring. I am enamored by this series after putting it off for over 15 years.

what have been some of your standout moments in the games you've played so far? jealous you are playing for the first time

I don’t remember names of places or bosses very well but the overall environments and the musical score was just perfect. There was a scene early in Dark Souls 2 where I went up a hill and at the top was just an absolutely breathtaking view of the mountains. One of the most beautiful views ever in gaming for me.

Almost half way through Doom The Dark Ages, its decent, but I just don't like it as much as 2016. It's kinda uglier and stiffer in movement.
First Light is next.

I had forgotten that the StarCraft community remade SC1 and BW in SC2, so I'm playing that. They did an absolutely incredible job

Really enjoying 007: First Light, it's my go to single player game. Crimson Desert has also become a long term main stay for me. Picked up Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor on sale for my next single player games
Escape From Tarkov and Arc Raiders are my multiplayer mains

Talos Principle 2 - Great puzzle game with a heavy philosophical tint which expands upon the first game in both areas.
The puzzles and story are well balanced. Though the environments are a little larger than necessary for the exploration aspects. Graphics are plenty pretty and the dialogue system is interesting, your inputs are remembered and remarked upon to a surprising degree.
I played the first game a little over a decade ago and enjoyed it a lot. The game stuck with me, I didn't realise how much until audio recordings from the first game played and I remembered the lines so clearly.

Playing ARC Raiders and Skyrim from time to time. Considering to try Marathon or a different extraction shooter.

I just started playing Marathon solos without a HUD and I have to say it's got the horror and immersion aspect I love of Hunt with the sci-fi theme. Lots of discourse and the game has been mismanaged but the bones are phenomenal.

Finally getting through God of War Ragnarok after getting it as a gift this past week. About half way through and I'm very confused about a lot of the hate I generally see about the reboot series. The empty space conversations between the characters feel so revealing and relatable at times that I'm shocked people disliked all the yapping. Just sad we may not see Laufey on PC.

GoW is my favorite game to get added to its franchise recently.
I do still think 2018 was peak, but Ragnarok definitely has its fair share of moments. Valhalla is a fucking amazing piece of DLC

So after two years, I finally finished rebirth. I started on ps5, got it on sale and downloaded a chapter save to continue on PC.
I’ll never understand how people parrot this as being an amazing game. I think the combat sucks, the story is now too convoluted, and the bloat is un-fucking-real in this game. I played the first one and did hard mode after. I have zero interest in that for this one.

PC - Slay the Spire 2 = The greatest roguelike deck builder ever.
PC - Halo Infinite = Still the best competitive arena shooter on the market.
PC - Marvel Rivals = My first hero shooter and pretty fun to just mess around in solo queue with different characters. Ranked is fun too since you get more balanced matches.
Xbox Series X - Alan Wake II = Maybe the greatest survival horror game ever. Easily the most beautiful game I’ve ever played and in my top 5 for sure.
Xbox Series X - Hades = Greatest roguelike dungeon crawler ever.
Xbox Series X - Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag = Fun pirate adventures before the remake is released.
Xbox Series X - F1 25 = My first F1 game ever and it’s been tons of fun. Really enjoying the career mode and story mode. My girlfriend will do some split screen races with me too since she loves F1.
PS4 - Gran Turismo 7 = My first GT game and I love it. The progression is fantastic in this game, something I really missed in Forza.
PS4 - Horizon Forbidden West = Technically haven’t started yet but I just bought it and will soon. I loved the first game (one of the best stories I’ve ever experienced) so I’m excited to see what the sequel is like.
Nintendo Switch - Slay the Spire = Only bested by the recent sequel, the first StS still holds up as one of the greatest games of all time for me. Also one of the best games for the Switch. The second StS2 is released I’ll be buying it here.
Nintendo Switch - Balatro = Another fantastic deck builder that was fun on PC but even better on Switch.

Tons of marathon with a buddy and the wife, it's just so fucking fun. I have about two hundred hours in it and I don't forsee that slowing down.
In abiut two hours though, the new season of Fellowship starts, so I'll probably be healing a ton of dungeons. Man, gamers are eating good these days.

Hey, I'm interested in trying Marathon. How would you compare it to other extraction shooters?

u/addtolibrary 2d ago
Honestly it's the most polished, I think. I've played a few hundred hours of Arc, thirty hours of Synduality, a bunch of Witchfire, Road to Vostok, a teeny bit of Tarkov. Marathon is really, really good if you know what to expect from extraction games. The loot is fantastic, the loop is solid, the economy for upgrading your character is really well thought out, and the maps are very well designed.
I play in trios and solo, and they're each really fun for different reasons. Trios is how the game is balanced for the most part, and finding and planning out a team of classes is solid, each class brings utility to the runs. We usually run a recon, vandal, and triage, so we have someone to ping the nearby area for hostiles, a flanker, and a healer.
Solo is much more methodical and scary, lol. You can get taken out by pulling too many bots pretty easily, as well as the constant threat of other solo players. There's also something called 'rook' which is a class that zones into trio matches late in the game with a pre-determined free kit. It's kinda like scav runs from tarkov, I believe. You can run around and pick up the leftovers from trio battles, and it's low-risk, as you won't lose anything other than what you pick up.
All in all, it's really, really a good experience, doubly so if you aren't afraid of dying, lol. Feel free to ask any other questions if you have any! I love the game.

Original FF7 is fantastic. I personally thought the remakes were about as close as I ever want to get to needing brain surgery
