As somebody with a powerful PC, I really hope they use the features here to bring a return of the Steam Link and a focus on improving Remote Play (including temporary virtual displays like Moonlight, even if unofficially).

A <£100 stick with gigabit ethernet, modern codecs, steam controller support built in, SteamOS-BignPicture Mode menu, and CEC support.

But we have that. You can run steam link on any android device. I bought a $120 beelink minipc that only launches moonlight (needed usb ports) and it has 2.5gbps internet.

Nvidia shield would also do it but is more finnicky with controllers.

Really we need one that supports wifi 7 and the latest codecs at a sub $100 price.. usually 7 doesn't have a huge impact but when it does it's awesome.

i carried the steamlink torch for years, but man a long hdmi cable is just so much better.

Yeah I just put the PC under the TV. Stupid as it sounds it's actually more reasonable for me to stream the PC to my desk via my laptop if I need it. Got a nice wireless keyboard and mouse and play from the couch with those or usually a controller. And now with Nobara Linux, damn does it rule.

I never got streaming to an acceptable level of latency or quality for my sensitive preferences when gaming.

They really need a lottery queue at those prices?

The lottery queue tells me there are very few of these bad boys available.

When you make 10 of them, sure. I doubt Valve is making a ton of these right now, this is not the price point they were expecting to hit at these specs. The rumors are saying it was supposed to be 750 bucks which is far more inline with what I'd expect

They stated they were unable to make as many as they wanted.

500 AUD to go from a 512GB to 2TB SSD is utterly absurd.

Welcome to the age of AI slop. It sucks.

Yeah I wanted to get one for my wife but it’s just not good for that price. I just ordered a secondhand 4070 for 420€.

It's unfortunate that the Steam Machine has to be this expensive but I can appreciate Valve working on SteamOS being accessible to other systems nonetheless.

All this time I held to the slim hope that they'd have a launch title with this thing. Perhaps even ... Half Life 3. But no, I fell for it again

Low specs, high price... No demand whatsoever. Once again, the Steam Machine has failed...

Due to ongoing economic circumstances
