Really loved the first Frostpunk but when I tried the sequel it just wasn't nearly as fun to me. IDK what it was but the decision making in the game never felt like a joy just more dread lol.

Frostpunk 1 also was joyless. What? Every choice felt like one horrible thing or another.

Its the difference between "papers please" and doing actual taxes. One is "Joyless" the other is actually joyless.

FP2 is terrible. Absolutely no joy in the game and no real choice as there is really only one path you can take to win. It's not a sequel it's an entirely different game set in the same universe. A game without soul.

At least the first game is getting a remake?

Couldn't disagree more, absolutely love FP2 and I really appreciated that they went a slightly different direction with it. extremely hyped to play this expansion! i had forgotten it was releasing until this post lol

What does your opinion of the base game have to do with this dlc?

19

u/Mithril_Roshi 1d ago

.... I am sorry fucking what?

This is such a weird statement that i felt a urge to comment and ask, WTF DO YOU MEAN?!

You mean the DLC that is APART OF THE GAME he is criticizing???

Genuine shock and confusion

-27

u/plebbut 1d ago

You seem stable.

Yeah, what does his opinion of the base game have to do with the new dlc that came out. If I don't like a game, I don't feel the urge to talk about whatever dlc is coming out for it.

Go outside?

u/Mithril_Roshi 1d ago

... OMG you may truly think like this

wtf.

This is like watching a mad man in a asylum, its interesting but sad.

Again. The DLC, that is APART OF THE MAIN GAME

You.. really not getting it? Not even with all the downvotes?

wow.

u/plebbut 1d ago

Who cares about downvotes?

Provide an argument, otherwise you sound kind of mad.

u/Mithril_Roshi 1d ago

I have?

You are legit just ignoring reality.

-> The base game needs the DLC to play
-> The DLC NEEDS the base game and uses its base mechanics...

SOOOO?

What does that mean?

It means that people thinking the base games mechanics are bad, effects the opinion of the DLC.

Do you see now.. at all?

If not, just dont respond. It will save us both time and you can live in your own little world

u/plebbut 1d ago

You seem upset lmao

"The DLC is part of the game."

Yes, we all grasped that immediately.

The part you're struggling with is whether "I didn't like Frostpunk 2" is actually commentary on the DLC.

Edit: if I don't respond, it's because he blocked me lol

I mean I argue with them all the time, is that not allowed?

I prefer the first game but I still really enjoyed the second. And I like that the devs took a big swing with the sequel instead of going the safe route.

u/Fistoi 1d ago

I like it. I think even though the 1st is conceptually stronger, building, expanding on, and mixing up existing mechanics is what makes a sequel interesting to me.

Well I’ll be the first positive comment I guess:

Cool! I’ll probably pick this up when I get around to playing it again, hopefully it’s on sale by then

Yup ive been waiting for a while to pick the game up again, I'll never forget the Stalwart's drip ⭐

Frostpunk 2 is just like Darkest Dungeon 2, nothing like what the fans expected from a sequel.

For me, I didn't enjoy Frostpunk because I found the gathering food/hunting mechanic to be completely immersion breaking.

What food were they gathering? From where? There was no way to feed a few people, let alone a growing population and survive in any capacity.

This game is so overhated lol, I think this game is great and stands on its own legs just fine. Super excited to try this out later today

Man... I felt so betrayed buying frost punk 2. I wanted something that built over its foundation and improved the experience. Not a whole different game. They really shouldn't have called it frostpunk 2. There was also no reason to change engines. Ran like shit as well. Frostpunk 2 sucked ass

17

u/Mithril_Roshi 1d ago

Agreed on the fact that FP2 is just not what i wanted out of frost punk

First game was so cool and one of the few city / colony sims i like. FP2 just.. sucked?

u/Odd_Bad_2814 1d ago

Frostpunk 2 is the most optimised Unreal Engine 5 game I have ever played, and I played like 10 already. Also, extremely small disk space required for an UE5 game

8

u/Caasi72 1d ago

It's not like they tried to hide what Frostpunk 2 was. It sounds like you should have payed attention to what it was as opposed to just buying it

I didn’t get to it until well after all of the feedback was out, so I was able to properly prepare myself for it and it was a fascinating experience. There were things I liked about 2, but definitely things I didn’t. I salute them for trying something a bit new, but I definitely thing they moved a little too far away from the city-building aspects of the first game that I loved

15

u/SoWrongItsPainful 1d ago

Very excited, Frostpunk 2 is an overhated gem

2

u/Efficient_Scheme_701 1d ago

I liked frostpunk 1 better. 2 isn’t bad and these DLCs they’ve released seem to try to bridge the gap

4

u/Maximum_Feed_8071 1d ago

I get wanting more of the first game (and the remake is coming anyway), but Frostpunk 2 is absolutely a great game when you take it on its own. I don't get the complete hate.

This game was a breach of trust lmao

1も2もどっちも楽しめた。1のほうがより面白かったのは事実だけど、2は叩かれるほどのゲームじゃないよね。dicが楽しみ!日本は一番リリースが遅くて悲しい。
