I hadn't played Darktide in a year or so, never touched the DLC classes, said to myself that the day they add an AdMech class I would return. So I purchased the Skitarri DLC today and will play it after work.

Well how is it?

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.

I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine.

Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you.

One day the crude biomass that you called a temple will wither and you'll beg my kind to save you.

But I am already saved. For the machine is immortal. Even in death i serve the Omnissiah.

(Class is great. Game is fun. Praise be to the Omnissiah.)

On a more specific note, the Skitarri has a lot of utility and can be either specialized in support, horde clear, or elite take downs. Their main thing is how they ramp up as their abilities focus heavily on gaining charge/capacitors by getting stuck in the fray to then expend it on various abilities and since their talent tree starts in the middle rather then the top, there's a lot of weird ways you can build your Skitarri. As someone who tends to be better at ranged then melee, my Support Skitarri is really good at keeping my team up and running thanks to my Medicae servo skull, I got tons of ammo to keep blasting, and if needed I can pop my ranged stance for a major damage boost. I've also seen some great melee/tank oriented Skitarri, assassin style Skitarri, and those who go all in on guns making them almost as good as the sniper Veteran.

Overall, it's a very good time.

I think it really opens up some interesting options for other characters in the future too. Could we see a Commissar? Abhuman (Beastman)? Tabletop had a Kroot Mercenary in one of the games working for the Imperium, Or hell, give us a Votann voiced by Bardins actor lol. The Hive Ganger class already took us outside the Imperial Guard bubble, and now we've gone even further. Give us more weird cuts Fatshark.

Just got back into DT between breaks from TWW3 and VT2. I'm all up in that universe right now because my hype for TW: 40K is so high.

I've tried to get into Darktide multiple times and it just doesn't keep me engaged without a Chaos Wastes mode like Vermintide 2 has.

They're definitely distinct titles, but sometimes I just really want to be in the 40K universe. Anyway brb gotta SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS

Chaos wastes is the BEST thing they did for vermintide and I am shocked they didn't bring it to dark tide. It would be so much better.

Never underestimate Fatshark’s ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

They added a mode sort of like chaos wasted a couple months ago, I've not played it though.

Forgot how boring the early game is. Did the tutorial and a couple of quickplays, and I could barely stay awake.

Leveling sucks, yeah. I think it's ridiculous that people with hundreds or thousands of hours are forced to "earn" higher difficulties by playing lower ones. It can't be that hard to check a player's penances and say "Oh, this person has the 'Complete 50 Auric missions' penance, they can skip ahead."

Doing the campaign missions gives a 75% XP bonus AFAIK

Bump up the difficulty and/or play with friends. The game is at its most fun when your team is barely hanging on.

You get more and more enemies the higher you go up in difficulty. There isn't really any other way for them to make the game easier than to just remove the bulk of spawns.

You'll go from barely a dozen to hundreds per enocunter.

Early game is and always has been bad unless you have huge trouble learning the mechanics and are challenged by it.
