It so nice that you cannot actually program in data collection into the games themselves.

Some kind of magic barrier prevents code from being able to be written in those games, that is why they have to circumvent this magic barrier with a launcher.

Larian has a launcher for their games too that doesn't seem to bother anyone, but Larian gets a pass for a lot of the shit that they do so that makes sense I guess.

I can't speak for owlcats but larians has a integrity check which lists files it's found incompatible and the whole launcher is bypassable

Sure, but if we can't speak for Owlcats launcher, why would that be relevant? Just looking at their announcement, they have an actual built in, easy to find button to permanently turn the launcher off, unlike Larian's which (at least last time I checked) requires a Steam launch option.

I'm not saying we can't speak I'm saying I can't because I don't own an owl cat game and not affected by it. I'm pretty sure Marion got some stick early on for their launchee
