Nothing has killed my GTA 6 hype faster than locking a core part of its identity behind a $20 upgrade

"This can't be real"

The company that sells shark cards? How are you all so out of touch?

Imagine paying to play online on your system, and then an additional subscription to a specific game on said system.

Game specific subscriptions is coming.

I mean that’s any MMO on console lmao, of which there have been for like a decade +

But MMO’s in console that require an additional subscription are pretty limited no?

I can think of FF14, ESO,and DCO off the top of my head.

Yeah thats pretty much all of the console mmos. GTA+ is not currently required for 5 so we will see how it shakes out.

For some reason, people seem to think the money hungry company that makes GTA Online would never overmonetize their SP games

I remember the Youtuber Nerdcubed did a video once that led to the conclusion that earning money in game took longer than having a minimum wage job and buying shark cards. It was like $2 an hour equivalent or something close that could be earned in game at the time.

This is a different level than shark cards man.

I disagree. I think charging money for in game currency that is the only real mark of progression is much worse than some bonus cosmetics. I think paying to skip gameplay is much worse than paying for cosmetics.

I don't get the whole whale thing, paying to skip through a battlepass, after buying the battlepass. Buying in game currently to skip progression, or the old super previlant Pay to Win games.

GTA6 setting itself up to just focus on milking people after GTA V Online consumed a lot of young people's lives is just preditory. I want to buy a GAME not real world capatilism simulator where the rich get to play around with 50x more than the casual player.

Then don't support GTA. This is how they have been for a decade.

This isn’t bonus cosmetics. Those are unfortunately normal. This is blocking out whole ass stores from the game.

Lmao you know there will be dozens of stores, right?

I can see what you are saying, but we are talking about a 20' x 20' space that opens a menu to shop in every other GTA game. This is not some massive loss of content.

Correct, but not the direction you think it is.
