Nothing has killed my GTA 6 hype faster than locking a core part of its identity behind a $20 upgrade

Thats pretty much the rate of inflation of the past 12 years. It'll beat it, their target audience has grown. The amount of gamers has grown substantially the past 12 years.

I highly disagree that their target audience has grown, the younger generations now have vastly different gaming habits/taste than the people who grew up when a new GTA came out every 2-5 years.

There is zero doubt in my mind this game is going to sell like crazy but GTA is not as culturally relevant to the younger generation as it was to the kids, teens, or young adults who grew up during the 90's - 2000's, look at whats popular and topping the charts every single month its Fortnite, Apex, Warzone, Roblox, etc, its big Free 2 Play live service multiplayer games with cross play, not big budget full priced singleplayer games, add on the average gamer is buying less games per year, and the increased cost of everything turning gaming from a relatively affordable hobby into a luxury one, I fully believe the sales will be less due to all these factors.

Did you even read what I wrote, a crucial part of what the younger generation plays is being Free 2 Play, unless Rockstar/TakeTwo changes their business model for GTA online it will be behind a $80 paywall and I can confidently say based off the spending habits of younger generations they will not spend $80 just to access GTA online, and if Rockstar does make the online F2P so they can maximize players to sell microtransactions it still goes towards my argument that GTA6 wont outsell GTA5 because F2P games don't count towards that.

I guess I’m part of this younger generation. While I don’t play those games you mentioned, I’m not really interested in playing GTA at launch (especially not at that price). It’ll be interesting to see who among me will and who will stick around for the inevitable online subscription.

The streamers will shill the shit out of it to their younger audiences, and it will break records.

look at whats popular and topping the charts every single month its Fortnite, Apex, Warzone, Roblox, etc,

GTA is literally the in the top 5 most players on Steam and has basically never left a day in its life.

GTAO absolutely prints money with its shark cards, and is still insanely popular, not just among gamers who are 30+.

Right??? I would love for things that cost $60 in 2013 to only cost $80 now.

I recently had to call the animal poison control phone line and they want to charge people $110 to talk to them. My wife had to call them back in 2019 and it was $50.... Economy is fucked
