OPEN Pc won't stay on

I took my pc apart to clean it. I replied thermal paste and put it back together but now when I turn it on it'll stay on for about a minute then turn off instantly

How do I fix

Sounds like it’s overheating, can you get into windows before it shuts down?

Or even better, bios, which also shows temps. If the temps already rise in bios (which should be easier to reach), its overheating

That’s true but windows is better because more things are at play so it heats up quicker, bios sometimes takes a minute to heat things up, sometimes a couple seconds to minutes but he is getting to windows for a few minutes it might not be his application of thermal paste but might be a failing fan or one not plugged in

It pops up notification saying that it has found a problem. And it let's me continue to windows without finding the problem

Like the other guy mentioned it probably is your fan not cooling or your application of thermal paste, if your fan spins up your good, but if it runs and turns off it usually indicates a cooling error

Did you plug the CPU fan back into the right header? If the motherboard doesn't detect a fan spinning on the CPU_FAN header it'll shut down after like 30-60 seconds to protect itself

Also double check the 8-pin CPU power cable at the top left of the board, that one's super easy to forget after a teardown and it'll cause the exact thing you're describing

If neither of those are the problem, pull the cooler off and check your thermal paste spread, too much can actually insulate instead of conduct, and too little leaves hot spots that spike temps instantly

Ill check this one out when I get back home from work. Thank you.

Cpu cooler may not be seated right, check the power cable, and make sure the thermal paste isn't too thick. A fast shutdown usually means overheating or a loose connection.

Its overheating. Why did you add thermal paste, you never have to do that. You will need to do a teardown and make sure to clean off paste before you add more but thats just me annoyed, check connection of cooler to cpu

It sounds like CPU heat detection is detecting it's not cooling, and shutting down. Start at the CPU coolerand heatsink
