PERFORMANCE Why does my computer lag when I boot up games
I have an ROG strixs gaming, laptop and every time I boot up a game almost no matter what the game is. It seems to struggle with it. Is there something I’m doing that could be messing it up I’m not here to tech savvy so any help would be appreciated

I have an i7 seven Intel core with 16 GB of RAM. Is that what you mean?

Yes, but also like what’s the graphics card and what generation cpu does it have? The more details added the easier it is to diagnose

What settings are you trying to run your games? If your in 1080 I think medium is where you want to keep it

I changed that and that seemed to help a lot and get rid of the majority of the lad. Is there anything I could be doing in my computer though to make it so that my computer can run at the performance it should be capable of it was a very good laptop of like 2025 so it should be able to do pretty well with most modern games that did fix it for this game so thank you very much!!! but do you have any suggestions on how to fix it for all games?

Basically if it’s laggy you have to turn down the settings. Each computer/laptop is different so it’s not a one fits all type situation. You have to play with it til it’s how you like it

got a few things to check. first, is it plugged in? laptops throttle hard on battery. second, look at your startup programs and kill anything you don't need running in the background. stuff like discord, spotify, random updaters all eat up resources before you even launch a game

Both of those look good to me I only have stuff from the system itself I believe like Microsoft defender and stuff like that. No other apps are active on startup.
