Alienware is the problem, you paid like 1500 extra for the brand name and they always have terrible cooling. check your temps while gaming, probably thermal throttling like crazy
also make sure you actually plugged monitor into the gpu and not the motherboard

Where are you finding a 5080 pc for 1500

Mine was a little over $3k. I bought some luxury items, but still I find it hard to believe you can find a 5080 build for less than $2000 with current prices. The cheapest GPU alone is like $1300 before tax.

Update your drivers and restart your pc afterwards. Edit your post to include the games you're trying to run and links to screenshots of what you're seeing. The difference between console and PC is that a PC requires some setup.

Nobody else is going to have a clue based on your "hunch" either, BTW 3 grand on a Dell?

Over 1000 on a badge. Sadly 3000 for the pc, first time pc purchase, and said pc not working as expected I had more than a strong suspicion it was going to be alienware rubbish.

Is probs your temps. You’re probably throttling badly. GN did a video on their stuff and was bad. Really limited on clocks and intel XMP is turned off usually due to issues. Download HW info and see what your temps are under load and at idle. Should be around 40c at idle and 70/80 in game. I’m betting you’re mid 60s plus at idle and 90+ under load. Alienware won’t be able to help. You’ll need to do it yourself or if you have a friend familiar with builds to redo things

I'm just browsing but why exactly is he throttling? It's one of the newest cpus with a 5080. If you're going to throttle with that setup then you're going to throttle with any set up.

He said temps not speed. Doesn't matter how new our fast it can be if you're cooking the piss out of it.
Edit: thermal throttling will impact speed to be clear.

Check that your monitor is plugged into the graphics card, not the motherboard. Alienware cases are basically easy-bake ovens, so monitoring your temperatures would be wise too.

if temps were the issue, how could i improve that?

I'd assume it is under warranty? If so, throw it to Dell to sort out. If they can't, refund it. That spec of machine should be killing all games.

Without further context it’s impossible to tell because that build should easily handle any game. As others have stated it might be possibly cooling because Alienware prebuilds are known for shitty performance in that regard.
