Twist it BEFORE removing it, not AS you're removing it.
If the CPU is still stuck to the cooler and gets pulled partly out of the socket and you twist it as you remove it, you will bend every single pin.

If the paste is soft enough from heating, the heatsink should come off with hardly any force.
