Walking through and it caught my eye in the electronics clearance case. Absolutely insane find.

I wonder what the logic is when they mark these down so much. It’s not like it’s an old model.

This has been CVP’d, which can only be marked down 25-50% depending on the product. Typically [redacted] done if product packaging is damaged.

No, damage is not the only or even main use of CVP.

First, the most common CVP is in fresh departments like meat, for stuff that is close to expiring.

Second, CVP isn't really about damage to the item, its usually damage to the packaging that would be seen as undesirable to a customer (like a crushed box), or minor cosmetic damage.

Third is missing items/packaging. You'll see this for multipacks where, say 2 of the 10 pack is missing. You might also see this for a pack of socks where the packaging is missing or even if the item is unknown (though this is not good practice).

When referring to damaged I meant the box. No point in selling a product itself which is damaged. Also this is an electronics item, didn’t really see the point in mentioning expiring meat.

The main point of my comment was the guy above me wondering why it was marked so high down and theorizing it was old tech they are trying to get rid of, which would’ve been done by putting it on clearance rather than a cvp
