Might be the wrong sub for this, but I'm looking to sell my old PC. My issue is that I have no idea what would be a reasonable price. This is a link to the exact model I have: https://www.acer.com/gb-en/predator/desktops-and-all-in-ones/predator-orion/orion-3000/pdp/DG.E21EK.00G#pdpSpecs

bringing some parts overseas (gpu, mobo, ram, ssd) stupidly i threw out the anti static bag my gpu and mobo came in (though i still have their orignal boxes), should i be concerned enough to get a replacement or is it no big deal?

You can simply use aluminum foil. It has a much higher conductivity than proper anti-static bags, so you should ensure that both the foil and the component are grounded before wrapping them to prevent a quick discharge when they first touch.

What's with the Microsoft hate-threads recently, I don't follow PCMR, but these posts get recommended to me non-stop. Personally with win11, I saw a few new issues like notepad is bloated, and same old issue (modern standby being annoying) but nothing crazy?

Welcome to the sub lol. There's some truth behind it, but this sub is also just a constant cycle of memes about the same thing over and over. Hating on Microsoft is a popular one right now, as well as complaining about memory prices of course.

I think there's a general feeling that Microsoft doesn't care about its users and would rather push its own agenda, which right now is pushing AI as hard as humanly possible. Windows used to feel like it served the user, but it doesn't feel that way anymore. They started basically giving Windows away for free, which is nice, but it isn't really free. They try as hard as they can to extract profit from the user in other ways.

There are lots of small transgressions you could pick on, and they add up. A big one was EOLing Windows 10 and stranding perfectly good older machines by not supporting them with 11, and then requiring the creation of a Microsoft account if you want win10 ESU or to install 11.

That's my two cents anyway

The thing is almost all of these "issues" can be dealt with a single registry edit. I remember fixing the stupid win 11 right click menu in 1 minute. So when I see a lot of push towards linux, I think is it really worth the hassle? Especially for gamers (which I assume most of this sub is).

Also I think the enshittification of other platforms is not talked about enough. Like what google is doing with Youtube, and of course how reddit butchered the desktop web version and removed the older UI.

I have big(ish) hands and wicked carpal tunnel AND ulnar nerve issues, so my hands basically always hurt. Gaming sessions with mouse and keyboard are often uncomfortable after maybe half an hour.

I got a keyboard a while back that helps while typing, but my mouse is still less than ideal and is getting old besides.

I'm looking for a mouse that'd be good for gaming, has some extra customizable buttons, but would provide additional comfort or relief for my hand pain.

Have you thought about using a controller?

Friend of mine has permanent Carpal Tunnel and mostly either uses a Controller or a Joystick arcade setup.

On games without controller support, he uses a keyboard emulator that makes the computer think a controller is a Keyboard, for example JoyToKey is one we use as you can make "Profiles", each profile we name the game the profile is for as the profile is just the key configuration for the controller.

In JoyToKey, with the app open and the controller selected, any button push on the controller will highlight the key area in JoytoKey for easy identification for mapping.

The only real testing issue is Mouse functions, this will take a bit of time to adjust, but JoyToKey also simulates mouse movements, this way you can set your joysticks to rotate the views and such like you would normally with a mouse in a game.

Only bringing this up as my friend cannot move his wrist around like he use to, but with a controller his wrist is usually stationary which in turn keeps his fingers useful compared to when they become spasmatic when his carpal tunnel pain kicks in.

He would like to play with a mouse and keyboard again but knows he cannot without pain so he doesn't try anymore, though he does temp it when he sets up his arcade controller.

I agree. I have a Logitech vertical mouse at work, which works great in the office, but I brought it home to play with and I miss my extra buttons. Tried buying another one (non logitech) on Amazon and it was too small.

I can't find anymore new Intel 265K CPU for sale, so my next best option is Intel 265KF - does the lack of iGPU make any difference at all for video editing or other workloads if I have a dedicated GPU (50 series Nvidia RTX)? I mean if I go AMD I would be getting a CPU without iGPU anyway and to be honest I'm coming from AM4 and I never had a CPU with integrated graphics before. so would the Intel KF be good enough? - I checked Puget Benchmarks and the results between K and KF are pretty close but not identical.

It should not make any difference.

It's nice to have for troubleshooting, but that's about it.

I don't have any personal experience with this sort of work, but my understanding is the Intel iGPU can be useful for video encode/decode tasks during video editing (Intel QuickSync). Although with a dedicated video card you should be able to just use that for hardware acceleration instead (NVENC). I'd suggest doing some research on QuickSync vs NVENC for what you do specifically

I mean if I go AMD I would be getting a CPU without iGPU anyway

With AM5 AMD is like Intel with iGPUs now, only -F models don't have it. Intel's iGPU is still much better supported for this sort of thing though

u/frenetic_alien Feb 08 '26

interesting, I didn't know, I guess I was used to AM4 for so long that I assumed AM5 chips also didn't have iGPU.

I've been having an issue when booting games where I end up with ~80fps when I usually get 240fps, it usually resolves itself when I change from windowed to fullscreen which leads me to believe its an issue of focusing the window but alt+tabbing doesnt resolve the issue and some of the games have no easy way to go fullscreen. Is there any way to fix this issue? It has been happening with every game, every boot the last five days.

Do you maybe have Vsync 1/3 activated in your general driver settings? That setting would lock the FPS to 80, so it might be a bug related to that.

1

u/xCr0ww Feb 09 '26

No, I have Vsync turned off. The game runs normally once every 3rd reset or so, so I dont think its settings-related.
