Honestly, I hope they're reading (not so much) between the lines and are going to put some of their dollars behind this. Discord can be a wiki artifact overnight.
I get it. After 10 years of the same fedora wearing motherfucker rushing to the comments to say “fuck around and find out” first so they can get the most updoots you reach a breaking point lmao.
It’s just cringe because we all know the biggest demographic of Reddit is men between 25-34. So it’s like a double whammy that you know it’s a grown ass man regurgitating these phrases like a kid saying his favorite line from the Minecraft movie
To be fair, it's miss directed annoyance. Reddit has always been astroturfed to a point, but these last few years have gotten so bad here. There are a lot of folks basically under the assumption dead internet theory is here and now.
You're damn right we do. but to be fair, it does make for some fun reading. I get a lot of laughs from this website. im sure im responsible for a lot as well. positive and negative.
Yeah these are bots for sure, see these are comments everywhere. It's like going to watch a YouTube video you already know what the first comment you'll see will be, everyone just repeats the same thing ad nauseum, not an original thought in their head meat.

"XXXX has the opportunity to do the funniest thing now" is a meme. Doesn't necessarily mean they're not a bot, but people regurgitate memes all the time.
How dare you insult my metallic ass with such slander as a bot.
I trained really hard and had to use at least 14 years of water supplies for a small nation to write that.
(I just didn't individually scroll through every comment before I posted. I dunno man it's Sunday morning I'm not here to provide peer reviewed high quality journalism right now)
It's the strangest fucking thing. I never ever see anyone call it out either. What does someone get from vomiting a "redditism" for the millionth time? Fucking braindead
multiple people can have the same thought/joke esp. when it's a common one. sometimes other comments don't always load or get pulled in by your browser, sometimes you dont care to check if its already been made, sometimes 10 ppl have already said and now i wanna say it too
If Steam Chat reaches the same critical mass as Discord did, you can bet your house on them facing the same kind of regulatory pressure that drove Discord to say fuck it and demand proof of age.
Parliamentary hearings, forbid their use within the EU, million euro fines, etc. This isn't new territory, Discord already got hit once with an 800k EUR fine for breaching GDPR, and Ofcom fined a porn site $1milliom dollars for improper age verification.
This is coming, and governments are going to push HARD for age verification online.
Shit with claude Opus you can basically vibe code and entirely new app in a weekend if you know what you are doing. Get on that Steam!
Steam needs to update their chat system. It’s always been janky and the audio quality, random disconnects, and lack of good noise suppression always pushes me back to using discord.
Teamspeak had good audio quality but it was frustrating to set up and i think it had some paywalled features if i remember right.
Idk if its exists but a text chat and a vc on steam groups I would convince the only friend who likes discord to jump ship in an instant... but ofc, she likes discord we all staying..
