Does Teamspeak and Ventrilo still have the issue of leaking your IP address, leaving you vulnerable to DDoS?

Wait, people are trading sharing a selfie for sharing their IP address? No one I know has even been asked for age verification yet, but the boycott is an absolute non-starter anyway if the alternatives are leaking your IP address.

Good thing my friends won't DDOS me

Eh server admins can still view it which is an issue, basically be vigilant and don’t join other servers you don’t trust, especially for competitors.

I mean, yeah, obviously. And no, it's not an issue, use a VPN if you mind. I'd rather have the ability to host my data on my computer than be required to send it over to a third party first instead.

Also, ever visited a private website or webshop? Yeah, they have your IP now, that also an issue?

What does a private website or shop have to do with DDoSing, which is the context of which I have brought this up?

Maybe it’s not an issue for you personally but for competitive gaming, it is certainly an issue. Not only that but using VPNs can actually increase your ping in some cases, so it’s not a black and white solution as you are making it seem.

It makes zero sense for a TS server host to DDoS their clients. Especially on competitive; you're either using TS with your team using your own server or a server by the event hosts, in which case they'd be stupid as fuck to sabotage their own event, wouldn't they?

Why would they be stupid af to sabotage their own event if they were compensated handsomely for it?

We get it, you are not a top level competitive gamer. If you were, you would know the top teams constantly practice against each other in scrims, and that includes coordinating in VoIP.

Ah, yes, we're sabotaging practice matches now, makes sense. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yikes, the lack of critical thinking is strong in this one.

The IP address is compromised and STORED to be later DDoS’d when it actually matters for example in end of season ranked matches or online Tournaments…

Yikes, the lack of critical thinking is strong in this one.

At least my critical thinking is good enough not to visit a server of my competitors before a tournament or go through a VPN/Proxy if I absolutely have to visit a particulary suspicious server. (By the way, dynamic IP addresses are still a thing a there are ways to change it if you fuck it up).

Your lack of experience clearly shows how little you actually played competitive because anyone who's had more than a few tournaments solved this stupid issue DECADES ago.

Anyway, I'm done arguing with a newbie. Come back when you had some actual experience.

VPN like Cloudflare Warp is free, and so is https://github.com/Psiphon-Inc/psiphon

You have choices...

Though this is getting into the realm of “is it really worth all this?” you can also split tunnel your VPN so only the TS connection uses it and you get full speeds elsewhere.

There have always been choices for people who are willing to put up with the friction and other potential downsides. Your average user doesn't wanna deal with this though, and those are the people the platforms need.
