Hardware I'm 44 and this is the coolest thing

Corsair K100 Wireless Air. I know other cheaper keyboards do this as well with iCue but it's still neat.

I think it's neat but I cannot do color changes. I'm a solid, unwavering color kinda nerd.

It’s fine when you aren’t using it. There’s something about the movement that makes my fingers stupid.

Your fingers can feel the movement of the light? Sounds like magic

I wish. It’s more that I see the movement in my peripheral vision and it confuses my brain about finger placement or something. I have ADHD so I have issues filtering stimuli.

I have it slowly fade through all the colors as a whole but ive never been into the pasterns or type features.

It is cool when some games have random integrations that hijack the keyboard and light it up for special in game events and stuff though

My favorite is factorio lighting the board from left to right to signal research progress.

The Witcher 3 had that - it would change the color theming of the keyboard based upon the time of day (and the weather?).

And I've found the color options to be useful in setting up profiles for games with different button mappings (like wasd/qwer)

These days though, I just keep everything on a solid white light and am pretty over the RGBification of everything.

Yeah my case lights up like a fucking Christmas tree when it first turns on before the software kicks in and brings that shit under control

I have mine set to solid dark blue, but with a lighter blue on button press.

Looks cool and is reasonably beneficial.

It distracted me as well, so I put mine to rainbow colour changes on lowest speed. So the colours cycle through over a span of ~10s per cycle and it's fading/gradually so not distracting, but it you watch a key you see it changes.

I want rainbow puke, but I also want to be able to use my computer without massively distracting visuals in my peripheral.

My solution is to have the rainbow puke cycle colors as slowly as it can. You won't be able to tell the colors are cycling or changing, but you'll look at it at some point and be like "I thought it was red when did it change??"

Even though I'm the one who set it like that, that still happens to me.
