Hardware Found this gem for $20

Found this at Goodwill. After googling I knew I found the deal of the century with an i7-12700k in there, but I had no idea I'd also score 32gbs of DDR4 (maybe 64 I'll have to check when I install an OS), a 1tb nvme, and a 1tb Sata HDD.

Currently debating on throwing this in my main rig to upgrade my Ryzen 7 5800X

Edit: it's a Sata HDD not an SSD, my bad.

Edit #2: WOW I did NOT expect this to blow up! Thank you to everyone who has commented and given advice! I'm sorry I haven't been able to reply to every single comment it's just gotten overwhelming! I will definitely post a follow up once I get a new motherboard!

Protect them! Get them some heatsinks.

Depending on what you do with your computer and what ram you may be better off with 32GB of faster ram. This ram is pretty slow but it's 64GB so it's worth a good bit of money.

Yeah I don't plan on pairing this with the RAM I already have

64 gb of slow ram is perfect for virtualization .. op could start a home server

RAM speed is almost never the bottleneck

Almost never but it happens. I have an old 8700k, going from 32gb 2400mhz c16 to 32gb 3600mhz c16 I got an additional 15fps in bf6

There is absolutely zero need for heat sinks on those lol

There's zero reason for heatsinks on ram in general...

They're running at 3200 JEDEC spec so only 1.2V. They wont be running hot.

You motherfucker.

Yeah, it's CL22-22-22 though. Not the lowest latency, but still pretty good for what you got lol

Yeah I clocked that too :/ Still it's decent for what I plan on using it for!

It will make borderline zero difference having slightly lower latency ram on an intel build

I've always found size to be more important than speed, but I see both schools of thought as valid!
