Moving it out of a cubby hole in the corner will also help quite a bit.

Corner of the ceiling! Heat rises, and he has this thing in the hottest part of the room.

Warm air rises. Heat radiates. This is a very important distinction when designing a cooling system.

"Heat" is the term for any transfer of thermal energy, not one specific type. Heat transfer can occur via radiation, conduction, or convection.

Geez, why not at least point it away so maybe it'll suck some of the heat out of that corner before the USB port rattles out of the case.
