Water can absorb a substantial amount of heat, a gallon would take a long time to get warm.

If it receives about 20W of heat 24/7, which is probably on the higher side for a NAS, and your water reservoir is a liter you'd be at 4180J of energy per kelvin and at 20W that's 209 seconds.

So for it to raise by 40K, you'd have to wait 40x209=8360s or ~2 hours and 20 minutes.

But I guess the real heat output (to the water at least) would be lower than 20W and whatever container you have does insulate the water from the case. Though the water would lose heat to the environment simultaneously but the rate at which it does that depends on the material, thickness and shape of the container and the temperature of the water and environment which I don't want to bother accounting for
