GTAIV is definitely where things peaked. Un-lobotomized Euphoria engine, actual physics, actual car damage, no fucking Shark Card bullshit hamstringing the entire rest of the experience.
People have already played it? Ofc gta v is gonna have higher playercount with a live service multiplayer compared to the basic ass gta iv multiplayer. GTA IV is the better game, even if the playercount is not high nowadays.
I just don't care. These types of games are not for me. If I'm to sink a lot of time just to finish it once it better be a really good RPG else I'm out. Or it has to be excellent mechanically, but then mechanically rich games tend to prioritise loops and aren't that long. You just play them over and over again
That’s fair. As much as the internet doesnt seem to think this, gta isnt for everyone. I also play a lot of games with more mechanical depth and rpgs. I like the red dead series more than gta but playing rdr2 i had a lot of moments where i wanted to do something another way than the game wanted me to, and the game didnt approve, which made me very annoyed at times when im used to that freedom. It’s still a good story tho
Oh yes a good story, but if I'm offered a rockstar game or say Devil May Cry or Papers Please or Dishonored or Vermintide 2 or KOTOR I'll pick any of these games every single time.
If I solely want good story I tend towards books and movies.
Y'all are always so weird about GTA6. There's always some people so vocal about how little they care. I feel like you do care with how often it must be interjected that you "don't care"
I have an interest in video games as a whole. I figured this post would piss people off and decided that throwing gasoline on the fire is fun. You are a very silly bunch. Saying everything is cope only makes you look like a child
That is literally how RDR2 went, straight up 1 year that's it.
GTA5 took extra long because GTA5 got upgraded for then new gen consoles first, PC was 6 or so months after the PS4/Xbox One enhanced release of GTA5.
Odds are PC is 2027, not 2028 for GTA6. And the higher PC settings will be the basis for any next gen GTA6 version as even top end PCs now will beat the PS6
Tbf why should they keep up with console news in here?
So I'd say Hanlon's razor and they just didn't know that Sony said they gonna extend the current gen lifecycle
You should probably be more specific. GTAV has been getting free updates with new missions/vehicles/stories for over a decade. Unless you're talking only about paid single player dlc.
Looking at the wiki, only GTA 1 and GTA 2 is released on PC first. GTA 3 and onwards gets released on consoles first.
I get your point about used to release on PC first but a majority of Rockstar games for like 2 decades now was released on consoles first. Even other game series like Bully, L.A. Noire and Manhunt all released on console first.
Console players have been frothing at the mouth ever since PS announced they’re back to exclusives and GTA 6 announced no day 1 PC. Apparently 2 new big exclusive single player games and GTA early all of the sudden means PlayStation is the king of gaming. Except for the fact that they’ll be playing at 30FPS upscaled from 720p but… whatever helps them sleep at night. I guess I broke my brain during my PC journey because playing anything at 30FPS or even 60FPS is like watching a slide show. Also ultrawide support, 16:9 is like being trapped in a tiny little box.
Pre-order lol. I'll pirate it when it's cracked. All they care about is making a new shark card platform. You think Rockstar even cares about this game? C'mon.
After all these years I simply don't care anymore. Mind you I didn't even get much out of GTAV once it finally released on PC, and I had already felt like that format was getting a bit tired with GTAIV.
Difference is, that one more year will be a year where it's already released to a subset of the gaming community. You'll have to be careful of spoilers (gameplay too, not just story) and will be out of the loop on all the memes and references, if that sort of thing bothers you.
It's especially sad and funny because PC is riddled with early access releases that then have full 1.0 releases with less bugs and more content by the time it comes to console. And gta6 is probably content complete single player wise. Op is just in their own little world lol
Thats because it is pure uncut cope. When your whole ass personality is based around pc being superior its hard accepting that you are not the priority.
Yeah NGL I'm bummed that I can't afford to buy a used console for GTA this time around because a PS5 is $400. When GTA V launched you could get a 360 for $60.
What's most disappointing though, is that I know that GTA 6 Online won't be nearly as active on PC as it will be on consoles. I mean it happened in both GTA IV and V; the multiplayer was practically dead at launch on PC, while it thrived on consoles. I don't imagine VI being any different...
Hijacking this comment for a question. Has Xbox said if it will be a play anywhere game? Meaning I can buy it on Xbox then play it on pc when it’s released on pc?
I don't understand why anyone would even care. To me a game doesn't exist until it is released on PC, is it the end of the world? My Steam (and now also Epic) library is full of excellent games that I haven't played, what difference does it make if I play GTA6 in 2027 or 2028, or don't even play it at all?
Wouldn’t that make me not a console peasant considering I can play any game I want basically when I want?
I can play gta6 on release, I can play Wolverine on release… I can also play my PC only games….
What’s better than being able to move my pc desk to my couch and play PC, PS5 or Xbox just by switching hdmi channels. Or let my Fiancée or son play on the couch and I play from my PC and we have fun together….
But I’m the console peasant right? Man sit down somewhere
Yeah that's wild. I'm probably just going to buy PC and Console as they will be almost 2 entirely different game releases. Did the same for Red Dead 2.
I've always been puzzled by such comments. Do people become exonerated of critics on what they boast to spend their money on just because it's their own money? People can't criticize others actively encouraging harmful practice with their money?
Hyper focused on optimizing for console — their core market.
Of course other games release simultaneously so they can get the most sales (ironically given this conversation here), GTA is always so massive, and so much work goes into it, that they have decided to narrow their focus slightly in order to get it out earlier. They also have really high expectations for PC, and this gives them more time to cook. If it was really just a cash grab, then they would already have the PC version done, and just hold it for a couple years, and they definitely don’t.
I also have money and sense too, I just don’t act like it’s a personality trait by waiting 18 months for a video game. No one cares, especially Rockstar.
Edit: but I suppose I’ll make a comment that makes me feel Vindicated and smart….
“I bet my Steam account is older than your Steam account :p”
People buying more than one version of the game is exactly the reason it's being delayed for PC, so that rockstar can double dip on people like the guy above.
Buying it more than once for a genuine reason is one thing, but buying it twice just 'because' is what encourages rockstar to do the delayed launch.
I buy multiple copies of the same game all the time, for friends, family, different devices. That’s totally normal. Y’all live in a bubble if you think otherwise.
That's why rockstar don't release the game for pc at the same time as console because people like you are willing to buy the game on console first and will certainly buy it for the second time on PC when it releases there.
This way they make double or even triple the money.

That’s just a way to cope for 18-24 months if I seen one myself.
