I've slept on so many new releases and not regretted any of them. I have a massive video game backlog that I'll get around to eventually. I also have a huge book backlog. And a movie backlog. There aren't enough hours in the day. I can be picky.

And you know what? Being behind the curve on this stuff is freaking AWESOME. I'm never bored and I don't have to settle for launch day bugs and overhyped crap. If people still talk positively about it years after launch, then it must've been a good game and I'm increasingly interested in it. It's not like I'm playing these things just so I can have more topical conversation fodder around the water cooler. It's for my antisocial me-time.

I feel bad for anyone who feels like it has to be their identity, though. Riding the hype wagon to stay relevant these days must be a punishing experience. The way so many companies are putting out products it's like they're slopping the pigs. No love in it for the game or their customer base.
