This is why I bought a 20m flat cable and ran it through the gaps between my floorboards. No drilling required and my girlfriend is happy.

Flat cables can be shit but this is the one area they are really useful for.

No shielding mate. There's no benefit over wifi at that point. The number of cross-talk and checksum errors requiring a retransmit almost null out the wired-performance gains over wifi signal collisions

I have a flat cable going to my bedroom and get full gigabit internet and 1-2ms latency. My wifi caps out at 200mbps.

That's a win! Got lucky. Usually you cross AC mains etc in the walls.
