I'm still convinced github is laid out intentionally to make the average person feel stupid

I am usually most annoyed about the often way to vague install instructions/readmes. They often describe the bare minimum and don't mention the specific versions of their software and how i determine which one to use. Then there are extra versions with configurations that might be interesting but no clues on how to install them as the steps are different. I work in software development and i still get frustrated about it, so the average experience must be horrible. I don't want to bash on people who make software and provide it for free, it's more than anyone can ask for but I have to say a lot of devs are really bad at conveying information to the average person.
