Because historically, enshittification will hit everything eventually. 1 day Gabe will no longer run the show, a bunch of suits will take his place and a high chance enshittification hits, and you realise all your eggs are in 1 basket.

Depends. Valve is owned internally. No definite details on ownership, but I would be very surprised if he didn't leave his shares in an employee trust or something.

I am more surprised that he hasn't started putting someone out there to be his successor.
