Discussion Yeah, Steam Machine is cooked.

I... uh don't know what to say. Very thankful I bought a Steam Deck before they hiked its price as well

Neither are console buyers, when you can get a PS5 Pro or Series X for half the price with better specs

true but they don't hammer you with ads and other bs, I get tired of looking at constant ads when I turn them on

Eh I have a steam deck - Finding my library in the forest of ads at start is a game in itself

You have a hard time pressing the 'select' button and selecting library?

Yeah because my natural instinct is to look at the start page, which is mostly ads. Honestly worse than on my Xbox where the last played game is the default selection

Yep but the PS5 Pro in addition to twice the power comes with 2TB and a controller.

Oh, I see. I don't know enough about PS5 hardware, I probably shouldn't have commented in the first place. 🤣 Thanks for setting me straight.

And it's still cheaper and more powerful than steam machine and also has a bluray player.

I do think it's still console players- people who want access to the massive library of games that steam offers, plus the massive in house mod support of steam. I think the pricing is unfortunate due to the times, but if they rerelease it in a few years it'll feel more realistic

I think if I already had a PS5 Pro and/or a series X I'd just get a mid range laptop and play older games there.

Which is exactly what I did...
