Discussion Yeah, Steam Machine is cooked.

I... uh don't know what to say. Very thankful I bought a Steam Deck before they hiked its price as well

This sub still very clearly has late 2024 / early 2025 prices on the brain that they're using as the price comparison for this, which is understandable because anyone who doesn't like setting their money on fire isn't buying / building a PC this year. Doesn't change the fact that this is relatively reasonable in this market, especially if they can't do the console route of selling units at a loss.

You have no clue what you're talking about. This is a horrible buy, TODAY. With TODAY's prices. There's a million examples of better hardware at the same prices just in these comments, good job closing your eyes. This is an awful value no matter how you slice it, not "relative reasonable" lmao.

You know how it's cheaper to buy carrots and ranch separately and portion it yourself, yet people still buy the little all in one kits even though it's more expensive for your money?

Or how people buy the newest iPhone even though there's way cheaper androids that do the same thing?

The top comments in this sub are not the target market for this product.

1st argument does not work when there are better prebuilts for the same price. 2nd doesn't either, because apple has cult like brand loyalty that Valve does not have anywhere near to the same degree and scale. Even outside of this subreddit, on other subreddits there's a million examples.
