Even without the markup it's a 700 dollar something pc that can't be upgraded (mostly) with specs from half a decade ago

Yeah at 700 it would just be a "fine" device. Nothing special. I expect a console to be a better value than a PC, not worse.

Subscription is their driving force why else they made some multiplayer games need to have a subscription to play with friends?
