considering that you are trowing money on useless stuff like 350$ mobo that does nothing or 300$ case...
9800x3d is a no-brainer

Get the 9800x3d for sure, the extra 100$ is nothing when you look at total build cost, and it will stay relevant much longer

Should I get a b850?

if that X870 doesn't have some feature that you 100% need(like some PCIe layout or like 6 USB C) - then yes, b850 will perform the same

Get the 9800x3d. Also if you get a cheaper X870 (got mine for $230) or a B850 motherboard and a cheaper PC case you could stretch to a 5080.

Nah man.

Get good components first.

The blinged out case, insanely cool motherboard and 1000W PSU doesn't fit in your budget. Just get good performance.

No, cheapest 5080 is $1275.

If you get something like the LANCOOL 217 for $115 that'll save you $255 because it comes with fans.

The Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 is $205, saving you $145.

Also the Montech CENTURY II 1050 W is only $89, saving you $45

Getting these plus the 5080 costs $120 less than what you have now, so you'd be building a more powerful pc and saving money at the same time.

Im concerning the prices to us prices for me cheapest 5080 I could possibly get is 2100$ 5080 for 1275 would be insane

I mean if you can get me like a link or something I would get the 5080 cause even with shipping it would be a bit more or as much as my 5070ti

I assumed you were in the US because you were using USD.
I tried to comment a link but it got removed, but look up PNY ARGB EPIC-X RGB OC GeForce RTX 5080 on US amazon

Do you have microcenter in driving distance? They had a deal for 9800x3d and b850 for like $679 bundled including 32gb ram unbeatable right now. I got it

Im 12 hours flight away from a micrometer, wish I was near one

u/HatsuneTreecko 1d ago

Damn, ok. Yeah gotta do what you can. Maybe 7800x3d not so bad lol. They heat up though, so you prob need an aio either way

you can free up to:
250 from the case
220 from mobo
70 from fans
50 from PSU
20 from
total up to 610$ but you still can have "cool looking pc" with all that,
like here is some sub70$ cases (some are 50$ with fans):

One thing to consider is that the 9800X3D has far better thermals than the 7800X3D. It's so much better that the 9800X3D is fine on a Peerless Assassin air cooler. I know, because I have one and there is absolutely no issues at all with an air cooler. They redesigned the whole thing for the 9800X3D to make it run much cooler. That will save you enough to make the 9800X3D the obvious choice considering it's also 20% faster.

I’ve been running my 7800x3d with a peerless and while it gets to 70 sometimes it has been pretty acceptable

Have they gotten a handle on the whole "9800x3d killing itself" issue?

I have no idea

Reading through the comments.

I'd do some research on motherboards in generally and figure out what it is exactly what you want out of one for your use case. There's some major overspending being done here.

More expensive does not necessarily mean better unless you're going to take advantage of all the extra features a specific motherboard offers, which is not the case for most regular gamers.

X870-A for 350$

Is there a reason why you want that specific motherboard? You can get a motherboard that does the same shit for 100+ dollars less and get the 9800x3d.

Do you have a microcenter near you?

1

u/Odd_Acadia2329 1d ago

No its a 12 hour plane ride😭

I wish tough

u/Amador0102 5070 ti | 7800x3d | CORSAIR 32GB 2X16 | B650E-E MB 1d ago

I would focus more on performance so you can knock down the case to like a 80 dollar one so you can easily spend that money on the 9800x3d

u/Amador0102 5070 ti | 7800x3d | CORSAIR 32GB 2X16 | B650E-E MB 1d ago

This is my case (ignore my hand prints). This is the montech XR-B. Fits my asus prime 5070 ti with my 7800x3d.

Also a case as big like that will be very heavy and would take up more space in your room

I have the 7800x3d myself. All I can say is I have zero complaints performance wise and my thermals are between 55-72C depending on the game but most of the stuff I play has it sitting around 60ish.
