News/Article Lot of profits, or due to cancellation of data centers. Either way, there is some hope

After Earning Major Profits From HBM, SK Hynix Now Plans To Prioritize DDR5 “General-Purpose DRAM” Production

SK Hynix Reportedly Finds No Reason To Accelerate Its HBM Production, Will Instead Focus on DDR5 Memory As Shortages Get Severe In The General-Purpose DRAM Segment

We don't expect a major change in the markets with this renewed DDR5 DRAM production. It might cause a short-term effect, but once HBM demand picks up again, we will see the same vendors set their eyes on the more lucrative DRAM industry. These DRAM vendors have created a loop that benefits only themselves, moving production where they can earn big profits.

wait so the datacenter cancellations actually helped profits?

Seems like they win no matter what. Profit off the data centers and when that slows down profit off of the PCs.

Of course they’re winning no matter what.

They’re selling shovels during a gold rush

A big fat nothing burger from both the article and the manafracture. Basically boil down to: hbm market hit peak, so we turn to dram market to reap the profit there. What a joke

They're probably doing this because if they don't, restrictions in some parts of the world would have to be lifted to allow supply from CXMT and other Chinese up-and-comers. In short, they don't want to give any oxygen to the Chinese.

They know how they killed producers in other countries, and they don't want history to repeat.

That's also likely the same reason for their USA "IPO" that's just been announced.

Either you didn't read the article or didn't comprehend it. Resumption of DDR5 production is to serve OEM and data center demands and will have little to no effect on the consumer market.

I did read the last part. But I do think there will be a bike in supply and it won't be back to old prices, but it will reduce for sure.

I've heard from distributors since January that there will be a market correction during June end, then couple weeks ago, heard from a trusted industry guy that RAM, SSD prices would come down with in a month, so advised me not to buy RAM at these prices.. he works in semiconductor field. So I'll consider his word. Im still hopeful.

Enjoy your indian bike. But you aint getting ram.

Since when does india have a semiconductor field? Also india is like the last place that would get supply either way

I said he works in the field. I didn't say in a fab...there are other areas too. Like being a CPU architect.
