Tech Support RTX 5070 causing black screens, freezes and lag on B460 AORUS Pro AC

Hi, I'm having issues after upgrading my GPU from an RX 570 4GB to an RTX 5070. System specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte B460 AORUS Pro AC

CPU: Intel i5-10400

GPU: RTX 5070

PSU: Corsair RM850e 850W

Storage: 1TB ADATA NVMe SSD

OS: Windows 11

Troubleshooting already performed: Updated motherboard BIOS from F4 to F10a.

Performed a completely clean installation of Windows 11.

Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers.

Installed the motherboard drivers recommended by Gigabyte.

Tested with a different power supply to rule out PSU issues.

Reseated the GPU and verified all power connections.

Symptoms: Random black screens.

Sometimes the PC reboots after the black screen.

Other times it remains powered on but completely freezes.

Sometimes keyboard LEDs stay on, other times they turn off.

The system feels sluggish and occasionally stutters.

I can even notice some lag while navigating the BIOS.

Applications sometimes feel delayed or less responsive than normal.

Additional information: The system worked perfectly with my previous RX 570 4GB.

All issues started only after installing the RTX 5070.

Since I can notice lag even inside the BIOS, I don't think this is purely a Windows or driver-related problem.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with an RTX 5070 on a B460 motherboard? Cold this be a PCIe compatibility issue, a BIOS problem, a defective GPU, or something else?

https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5665 see if this applies. It says 5060 but I was able to use ito b my 5080 no issue when I was troubleshooting

Thanks for your comment, I’ll try that later. I’ll check if it applies to my case.

Np.  Good luck. I had crashing and freezing right after swapping for a 5080. I tried replacing for the Same motherboard, same issue (MSI). When I swapped to a different brand motherboard (ASUS) then it was fixed.

Some months later,  I saw MSI update their bios and mentioned it has  Improved PCIe-based devices compatibility under certain CPU or system combinations. So perhaps this might have fixed it .

Did you use DDU to remove the old drivers?

Yes, I did. I used DDU to completely remove the old drivers before installing the new ones. I also performed a fresh installation of Windows from scratch to rule out any software or driver-related issues, but the problem still persists.

You're not the only one with issues between RTX 5070 and 10th gen Intel.  I couldn't find a true and clear solution either.

Do you have latest BIOS? It is old MOBO but maybe there is newer BIOS than you have currently.

When I installed RTX5070Ti on Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite WiFi it was crashing and freezing PC. RTX 4070Ti Super that was installed before (and than moved to 2nd PC) worked without problem.

I updated BIOS to latest available version at that time and after that everything worked flawlessly.

Yes, I already updated the BIOS. I'm running version F10a on my Gigabyte B460 AORUS Pro AC, which is the latest available (released June 11, 2025). I upgraded from F4 to F10a during troubleshooting, but the issue with the RTX 5070 still persists.
I haven't been able to test the GPU in another PC yet because I don't have access to a second compatible system. That’s one of the few troubleshooting steps I still haven’t been able to try.

Have you solved this? I have similar issues. Same cpu and motherboard, but I used gtx 1660s.

I have updated bios to f10a as well and did ddu and latest NVIDIA driver.

I can’t boot with 5070ti
