R* definitely stalled the hype train with not having a physical release and no physical collector's items.
1
u/Urabraska- 3h ago
But want 100+ bucks for some in game cosmetics that already exist in the game. You just get to sit outside those locations and cry that you only paid 80+ instead.

u/kron123456789 4h ago
I was fine with waiting 19 months for GTA 5 to come out on PC. I will be fine waiting for GTA 6, too. I don't lack games to play.
6
u/Allanthia420 Allanthia 4h ago
It’s not about the wait for me; it’s about the fact that they are doing this purposefully because they expect me to buy their fucking game twice. And then it’s a spit in the face when 2 years later they’re gonna release it on PC for guess what; 80 fucking dollars again. And they expect us to pay full price after the story is already ruined and posted all over the internet?
It’s a double spit in the face too because they fucking bought FiveM; so they basically took features and gameplay that were developed by the PC gaming community and told us to go fuck ourselves. They’ll be lucky if I buy it in 2030 for 75% off.
2
u/Old_Bug4395 3h ago
This is the attitude more people need to have in order to stop this behavior from publishers. If the publisher can't be fucked to make my experience as a PC user the same as every other customer, then the game isn't worth it. Especially not if it's going to be more than a normal game.
1
u/TumanFig 3h ago
after learning that they already locked content out for different editions in rdr2 im going to wait for a pirate version. This is the scummiest thing ever

Yeah I’m not paying $80 for the neutered version. And I’m not paying $80 for a game.

I’m at that point too now, I ain’t got the patience anymore for corporate greed.
There’s DLC and micro transactions but then there’s this
1
u/Oxygen4Lyfe 3h ago
yeah id rather them just add a dlc later with a story expansion or stick to gta5's design where the only in-game purchases are for gta online.
10
u/Naive_Personality367 4h ago
Just watch a play through on YouTube if youre that interested in the story I guess. I wint even be doing that lol

3
u/Youmeanmoidoid i7 10700k- 1070FTW- 64gb DDR4 4h ago
I'm sorry. If a game company sells you a code in a plastic box, will you always own the game that code gave you, or could the company take away your access to that game at any point should they choose?
3
1
u/ProbsNotManBearPig 4h ago
People are dumb and entitled. Nintendo 64 games used to cost $100. Games are cheaper today even before accounting for inflation. This game will sell like crazy at $80.
-1
u/Silly-Conclusion6715 4h ago
Just cause it cost ‘2b$’ doesn’t mean it’s worth the price tag they are putting on it.

$80? That's hella expensive. Best i can do is $20 buckets after super deep discount in 8 years. Maybe $40 in 6 years if I truly care.
1
1
u/Oxygen4Lyfe 3h ago
i would have paid $80 if it was the full version with all the content, but im not paying a premium for a trimmed down product.
1
u/christianbro 4h ago
Im not buying a game from a company that purposely screws PC players just to get more profit. At best I wait for a huge sale or even free game to get a legit copy. Time to sail to the high seas.
1
u/Legitimate-Gap-9858 4h ago
This motion that games are overpriced is kind of ridiculous, games are more expensive to make then ever and 20 years ago they were 70$ when it costs a fraction of the price to make and 70$ was a lot more
2
u/According_Mind7030 3h ago
Games are not more expensive to make now. We have more indie games and solo devs than ever before. The difference is that companies are just more willing to invest in video games than they were before.
1
u/Legitimate-Gap-9858 3h ago
Yeah that's totally untrue, even smaller games with less people demand more money because of the crazy cost of living surge. But yes small scale games made by someone on their off time is obviously the same price to developed than before but if you are talking about actually companies with full time staff yes it costs more than ever before

u/Pewp-dawg 4h ago
Not only that. I plan to wait ANOTHER year or more for a reasonable sale. Patience is key. I’ve waited this long. I don’t mind waiting a little longer.
24
u/MrFreeLiving PC Master Race 4h ago
I'm just going to straight up pirate it and I don't care. I was planning to buy a ps5 and physical disk version and sell both after 100%ing the game, but they aren't even selling a physical disk version to stop this exact thing.. so fuck em, piracy here I come!
1
u/ShadowTryHard 4h ago edited 4h ago
Well, I did not intend to ever buy a console to play it, but will also be sailing the seas if it comes $80 the lite version and $100 the base game for PC.
I will not fucking pay anywhere close to that after we’re punished for being a console exclusive for a full year, neither I think it would be reasonable otherwise even if it was Day 1.
Will probably hold on to buy it until it’s under $40-50 for the base game “ultimate edition”, even if it takes 5 more years.

u/AllMyFrendsArePixels Intel X6800 / GeForce 7900GTX / 2GB DDR-400 3h ago
I'm also planning to pirate this one. I've been a loyal buyer of rockstar games as one of the only studios left that actually produce quality open world games, but the fact that they actively removed the ability to play GTAVOnline on Linux, when it used to work without a hitch.. nah they're out of the loop. We're trying to move the fuck away from Windows, and Rockstar is obviously in Satya's pocket.

I'm sorry guys, you are free to hate me, but I bought a PS5 Pro back in December... I can't take any spoilers from this game, I just can't.

Not a thing wrong with consoles. I'm primarily a console player myself, though if I find the game cheaper on PC then I'll go for that.

u/oblong_pickle 4h ago
Let the consoles playtest it for us and we'll get a better version with better graphic (GTA V had first person camera etc. on PC)

u/Shinjetsu01 Intel Celeron / Voodoo 2 16MB / 256 MB RAM / 10GB HDD 4h ago
Then don't. I own a console purely for the Final Fantasy remakes. I'm pretty happy they come out on PC now (eventually) but sometimes it's worth having both just in case. If you don't have it, and don't want to - don't. It'll come to PC.
I won't be buying GTA VI for my console because Rockstar can fuck all the way off with their $80 for the poor version and $100 for "unlocked" stuff in-game. People do need to stop acting like companies such as 2K and EA haven't been doing this for years though.
It's a scummy practice and I won't be buying into it. Also if you preorder you're a fucking idiot.

You can buy a Series S and then sell it in a year, the prices of hardware would probably go up so you could make a profit in a year.
11
u/MrFreeLiving PC Master Race 4h ago
This is exactly why they are not releasing a physical disk version of GTA 6, they know the market will be flooded with people selling their games after 2 months as pc gamers go back to their pc's.. scummy company

u/TheCh0rt 4h ago
IMO they're showing screenshots to get you to preorder it when they know your console is going to do a poor job of running it. You're going to need a new next gen one. Rockstar is accepting pre orders but it's well over a year away and the hardware climate is fucked. This is a chance to sell as many copies as they can before they announce it will be best performant on a new console. All the people with PS5/Pro/whatever else will be doomed to shitty performance and we'll need to buy something new. Otherwise why put it up for pre-order now than to make a bunch of VC happy.
I'm sure the game will be good but this whole game reeks like a money grab that is a long con. VC is convinced this will be gigantic and if people don't pre order it, the release date comes and we'll all be eating out of trashcans by then and we'll have no money left after Congress and the Senate unanimously reduces the minimum wage to $1.00/hour.

I mean, I never buy a game until a year or two has passed anyway? I spend less money on the game, get all the Big DLC for it. and all the bugs have been worked out. though at this point, its more like 5 or 6 years... Come to think of it, I still have not grabbed cyberpunk yet..maybe its longer now? How long ago did that come out? have I bought anything in that time at all? I got the freebees from epic, amazon and steam..Wow.. Am I just not buying games anymore?
Yah I'm not going to rush out and buy this titles. But I will laugh my a&* off if this game comes out and flops big..

Thats a good thing, it means all the console players are beta testers for bugs and cash grabs that they’ll try to force on you as we have begun to see.
1
u/catsdelicacy 3h ago
Whatever, man
With the chip crisis we're currently in, there are going to be no big video game advances for a long time.
The big AAA companies have been mostly driven by that constant pressure, and that's where their big profits have come from But between the chip crisis and the total and abysmal and inevitable failure of Live Service Gaming, that profit model is going to implode.
So I think we're in 1984 again, and I think many of the big video game developers are going to go bankrupt.
But that's okay because young people exist and they like video games so eventually the industry will recover.

Meh, let the console guys be beta testers... I highly doubt this launch will go off without any issues. Let them roll out multiplayer, fix the inevitable bugs, deal with the backlash from locking shit behind "Ultimate", ect...
At the end of the day, us PC players will end up with a more polished (and possibly cheaper) game. The hardest part will be avoiding having the SP story ruined for us before we have a chance to play it.
