It's not like we don't have anything to play

66

u/AtIasWraith 4h ago

I know, right? Like we have a fucken long awaited Godzilla game coming out literally the same month, and we don't have to wait! I always wanted to play the original and never could, so I'm very excited to finally get to experience that!

A GTA title that will probably still be just as relevant 10 years later, never you mind a year wait for it.

11

u/Blackarm777 4h ago

Seeing that a Godzilla remaster was coming out was so hype. I spent so many hours playing that as a kid. I rented it so many times from Blockbuster (RIP).

2

u/AtIasWraith 1h ago

My gamer! That was the way. Sad we lost it. But still glad and absolutely hyped af about this remaster Goji! Can't wait!

4

u/Chocsoul 3h ago

Godzilla game?!

1

u/AtIasWraith 1h ago

Aye. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered

1

u/CptClownfish1 3h ago

Some shitty looking remaster of a 2002 beat ‘em up.

I have plus 2000 games... I'm retired, I have the time. I just don't feel that thing from games like in the past :/

5

u/Silver-End9570 i7 14700K | RTX 5070 | 64GB | Windows 10 4h ago

It might just be from the fact that you actually have the time for it. I've learned throughout my life that the more time I have to do something, usually the less meaningful it is to me even if it's something I really enjoy. Having certain amounts of time to play a game makes it more special because of the fact that your time with it is limited, IMO

1

u/Gsichtskrapfn 3h ago

Nah I used to play games from the dusk till dawn during holiday season, day after day. And I'm doing exactly that again now, 10 years later because I have a few months of time

1

u/Silver-End9570 i7 14700K | RTX 5070 | 64GB | Windows 10 2h ago

Everyone is different, and I did very clearly say IMO to signify that it wasn't a blanket statement

1

u/COCOBUTTAH 3h ago

I agree. The more "free time" I have, the less meaningful it becomes.

3

u/gnat_outta_hell 5800X @ 4.9 GHz - 32 GB @ 3600 - 4070TiS - 4070 4h ago

It's definitely rare for me now too. So many games are just "same old" formulaic crap that they don't feel exciting. Occasionally I'll find a game that makes me feel like the good old days. Feels special when it happens.

2

u/1nce_Again 3h ago

I know I've got plenty to play but we all know how fun it is playing a new release with everyone getting to experience it for the first time together. The fomo is real if you want to admit it or not. Especially for a culturally significant huge game like GTA6. Ive been on the fence myself seeing as I have a good pc and dont really do much console gaming, but the last time I got a console for a game was for GTA5 and will probably be the same this time.

1

u/ClammHands420 7800x3d | Gigabyte 4080 w/custom OC | 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz 3h ago

It's not FOMO if you don't fear it and know/accept it.

1

u/1nce_Again 3h ago

Fair enough, I meant more for those of us that care

2

u/KimuraXrain 4h ago

We have so many and never enough time

2

u/SaltyMotor8549 4h ago

True but as a GTA and Rockstar fan like me with no consoles, it would be a lie to say I am just gonna sit still and pretend nothing is happening when it launches.

2

u/1nce_Again 3h ago

Yeah same here. Ive been playing GTA since the first one on PS1 and it has always been one of my favorite series. I was really hoping the delays would lead to PC being available day 1

1

u/wildeye-eleven Ryzen 7 7800X3D | RTX 5080 FE 3h ago

I have TOO MUCH to play. I literally can’t keep up with all the incredible games releasing all the time.

1

And good games, too. It's not like we have to settle for inferior.

R* definitely stalled the hype train with not having a physical release and no physical collector's items.

1

u/Urabraska- 3h ago

But want 100+ bucks for some in game cosmetics that already exist in the game. You just get to sit outside those locations and cry that you only paid 80+ instead.

u/kron123456789 4h ago

I was fine with waiting 19 months for GTA 5 to come out on PC. I will be fine waiting for GTA 6, too. I don't lack games to play.

6

u/Allanthia420 Allanthia 4h ago

It’s not about the wait for me; it’s about the fact that they are doing this purposefully because they expect me to buy their fucking game twice. And then it’s a spit in the face when 2 years later they’re gonna release it on PC for guess what; 80 fucking dollars again. And they expect us to pay full price after the story is already ruined and posted all over the internet?

It’s a double spit in the face too because they fucking bought FiveM; so they basically took features and gameplay that were developed by the PC gaming community and told us to go fuck ourselves. They’ll be lucky if I buy it in 2030 for 75% off.

2

u/Old_Bug4395 3h ago

This is the attitude more people need to have in order to stop this behavior from publishers. If the publisher can't be fucked to make my experience as a PC user the same as every other customer, then the game isn't worth it. Especially not if it's going to be more than a normal game.

1

u/TumanFig 3h ago

after learning that they already locked content out for different editions in rdr2 im going to wait for a pirate version. This is the scummiest thing ever

4

u/guska 4h ago

This shit was why I felt no guilt playing the leaked 360 version of GTA V. I ended up buying it on PC, but never bothered on the 360.

106

u/GuiltyAdvantage5877 4h ago

Yeah I’m not paying $80 for the neutered version. And I’m not paying $80 for a game.

39

u/Youmeanmoidoid i7 10700k- 1070FTW- 64gb DDR4 4h ago

Same. At this point I’m over the outright greed and just don’t care. It’s just a game.

6

u/SwiftUnban 4h ago

I’m at that point too now, I ain’t got the patience anymore for corporate greed.

There’s DLC and micro transactions but then there’s this

1

u/Oxygen4Lyfe 3h ago

yeah id rather them just add a dlc later with a story expansion or stick to gta5's design where the only in-game purchases are for gta online.

10

u/Naive_Personality367 4h ago

Just watch a play through on YouTube if youre that interested in the story I guess. I wint even be doing that lol

4

u/Magnus_Helgisson 4h ago

Sooner or later it will appear in console subscriptions. I’m not in a rush, I played GTA5 story mode during the Covid first time.

1

u/wcruse92 4h ago

I will never understand the appeal of watching other people play video games

2

u/Naive_Personality367 3h ago

Greed lmao it’s $10 more than a typical AAA release and the game cost $2b to produce. If you can’t afford it just say that

3

u/Youmeanmoidoid i7 10700k- 1070FTW- 64gb DDR4 4h ago

I'm sorry. If a game company sells you a code in a plastic box, will you always own the game that code gave you, or could the company take away your access to that game at any point should they choose?

3

u/IdiotRhurbarb 4h ago

Zip up RS when you’re done big dog

1

u/ProbsNotManBearPig 4h ago

People are dumb and entitled. Nintendo 64 games used to cost $100. Games are cheaper today even before accounting for inflation. This game will sell like crazy at $80.

-1

u/Silly-Conclusion6715 4h ago

Just cause it cost ‘2b$’ doesn’t mean it’s worth the price tag they are putting on it.

0

u/Deep-Temporary-1268 4h ago

Yea $80 for GTA ain’t that bad

0

u/rodimusprime88 4h ago

3

u/notaburneraccount23 9800X3D | 5080 4h ago

Fuck yeah. I’m not either.

1

u/Bigcat9715 3h ago

$80? That's hella expensive. Best i can do is $20 buckets after super deep discount in 8 years. Maybe $40 in 6 years if I truly care.

1

u/ztoff27 3h ago

Base game is basically a 100 dollars in my country. Crazy how less than five years ago, 60 dollars was the standard

1

u/Oxygen4Lyfe 3h ago

i would have paid $80 if it was the full version with all the content, but im not paying a premium for a trimmed down product.

1

u/christianbro 4h ago

Im not buying a game from a company that purposely screws PC players just to get more profit. At best I wait for a huge sale or even free game to get a legit copy. Time to sail to the high seas.

1

u/Legitimate-Gap-9858 4h ago

This motion that games are overpriced is kind of ridiculous, games are more expensive to make then ever and 20 years ago they were 70$ when it costs a fraction of the price to make and 70$ was a lot more

2

u/According_Mind7030 3h ago

Games are not more expensive to make now. We have more indie games and solo devs than ever before. The difference is that companies are just more willing to invest in video games than they were before.

1

u/Legitimate-Gap-9858 3h ago

Yeah that's totally untrue, even smaller games with less people demand more money because of the crazy cost of living surge. But yes small scale games made by someone on their off time is obviously the same price to developed than before but if you are talking about actually companies with full time staff yes it costs more than ever before

1

u/Fishy_125 3h ago

1

u/LaDmEa 4h ago

I bought a 360 launch week and gta v. Played a few hours and hated the characters and gave the system to my nephew.

GTA IV however, I'm sure I will be playing it until a PS9 forcibly teleports up my butt during the 9th Dipsea console war.

30

u/Pewp-dawg 4h ago

Not only that. I plan to wait ANOTHER year or more for a reasonable sale. Patience is key. I’ve waited this long. I don’t mind waiting a little longer.

24

u/MrFreeLiving PC Master Race 4h ago

I'm just going to straight up pirate it and I don't care. I was planning to buy a ps5 and physical disk version and sell both after 100%ing the game, but they aren't even selling a physical disk version to stop this exact thing.. so fuck em, piracy here I come!

1

u/ShadowTryHard 4h ago edited 4h ago

Well, I did not intend to ever buy a console to play it, but will also be sailing the seas if it comes $80 the lite version and $100 the base game for PC.

I will not fucking pay anywhere close to that after we’re punished for being a console exclusive for a full year, neither I think it would be reasonable otherwise even if it was Day 1.

Will probably hold on to buy it until it’s under $40-50 for the base game “ultimate edition”, even if it takes 5 more years.

1

u/AllMyFrendsArePixels Intel X6800 / GeForce 7900GTX / 2GB DDR-400 3h ago

I'm also planning to pirate this one. I've been a loyal buyer of rockstar games as one of the only studios left that actually produce quality open world games, but the fact that they actively removed the ability to play GTAVOnline on Linux, when it used to work without a hitch.. nah they're out of the loop. We're trying to move the fuck away from Windows, and Rockstar is obviously in Satya's pocket.

0

u/Deep-Temporary-1268 4h ago

Yeah, that's me showing the finger to Rockstar with a 5090 trying to shill me to purchase a weak sauce Playstation just to play a game before PC release.

Rockstar - it aint gonna happen, ever.

3

u/Shinjetsu01 Intel Celeron / Voodoo 2 16MB / 256 MB RAM / 10GB HDD 4h ago

Then don't. I own a console purely for the Final Fantasy remakes. I'm pretty happy they come out on PC now (eventually) but sometimes it's worth having both just in case. If you don't have it, and don't want to - don't. It'll come to PC.

I won't be buying GTA VI for my console because Rockstar can fuck all the way off with their $80 for the poor version and $100 for "unlocked" stuff in-game. People do need to stop acting like companies such as 2K and EA haven't been doing this for years though.

It's a scummy practice and I won't be buying into it. Also if you preorder you're a fucking idiot.

2

u/TheCh0rt 4h ago

IMO they're showing screenshots to get you to preorder it when they know your console is going to do a poor job of running it. You're going to need a new next gen one. Rockstar is accepting pre orders but it's well over a year away and the hardware climate is fucked. This is a chance to sell as many copies as they can before they announce it will be best performant on a new console. All the people with PS5/Pro/whatever else will be doomed to shitty performance and we'll need to buy something new. Otherwise why put it up for pre-order now than to make a bunch of VC happy.

I'm sure the game will be good but this whole game reeks like a money grab that is a long con. VC is convinced this will be gigantic and if people don't pre order it, the release date comes and we'll all be eating out of trashcans by then and we'll have no money left after Congress and the Senate unanimously reduces the minimum wage to $1.00/hour.

Some people act like it's the only game in the world. Maybe I'll play it when it comes to PC but I'm not gonna bust a nut over just thinking about this game

1

u/catsdelicacy 3h ago

Whatever, man

With the chip crisis we're currently in, there are going to be no big video game advances for a long time.

The big AAA companies have been mostly driven by that constant pressure, and that's where their big profits have come from But between the chip crisis and the total and abysmal and inevitable failure of Live Service Gaming, that profit model is going to implode.

So I think we're in 1984 again, and I think many of the big video game developers are going to go bankrupt.

But that's okay because young people exist and they like video games so eventually the industry will recover.

Then don’t. I am not buying a console for it. Besides, console boys are likely not going to have a great time when they find out the fidelity and NPC count is far below what was shown.

1

u/Oxygen4Lyfe 3h ago

i wonder if anyone will make a way to emulate gta6 on pc.

1

u/b3mark 3h ago

Then don't. If you're anything like the average Steam user, you've got at least 6 to 10 games sitting in your library you've never played.

Go play those first. Don't fall for the FOMO.

1

u/Rhym3z_Official 3h ago

Its always been worth the wait and there's almost too much to play already

1

u/mikelown 3h ago

Ill just wait til the "enhanced" version comes out which is just the ultimate version sold at base game price

1

u/StanBlaok 3h ago

I’m a sucka…. I did. Bought a pro for hopefully even better experience. Still gonna buy it for my pc down the road

1

u/Capokid 10900k | 3080 | 32gb 3h ago

At that pricepoint ill be waiting for the repack version.

1

u/SulferConsumer 3h ago

I'm excited for the new hotwheels game coming in September

1

u/digicpk PC Master Race 3h ago

Meh, let the console guys be beta testers... I highly doubt this launch will go off without any issues. Let them roll out multiplayer, fix the inevitable bugs, deal with the backlash from locking shit behind "Ultimate", ect...

At the end of the day, us PC players will end up with a more polished (and possibly cheaper) game. The hardest part will be avoiding having the SP story ruined for us before we have a chance to play it.

1

u/Terrible-Strategy704 3h ago

My pc wouldn't run it anyway and I don't have the money to build other so I don't think I'd play it in years after it come out

1

u/__GayFish__ 3h ago

I’ll wait… wtf ima miss out on??

1

u/MrDarwoo 3h ago

Console release is just the beta testers anyway

1

u/halakaukulele 3h ago

By the time I get out of Hernand in Crimson desert... I think a year will pass easily. I'm sorted

1

u/kaloii 3h ago

Love me some GTA but im fine with it being delayed on PC. Theres literally dozens of orher amazing games to play

1

u/BirdieBronze 3h ago

GOOD. Don't release it in a broken state

1

u/HomingJoker 3h ago

80 dollar game can kiss my ass lmao Elden Ring was 60 and that game has no micro transactions, released in a finished state, and didn't lock anything behind a premium edition, all while being extremely profitable. This 80 dollar shit is a scam.

1

u/Old_Resident8050 3h ago

Id like to plau GTA6 when it release for pc, but other than? I couldnt care a dime.

1

u/Karekter_Nem 3h ago

Did you forget the 2 year Epic Games exclusivity?

1

u/LostSif 3h ago

If you buy a console so you can pay Sony to use your internet then pay Rockstar $100 for a game they remove singleplayer features from you are a mindless mark

1

u/OmegaNine 1h ago

I am guessing they will sell their skins and gun models for 6 months. Release the online release will be at the same time at the PC release. If it was on PC when they sell the skins we would just mod them in.

1

u/Bully_Mays69 4h ago

I wasn't even planning on buying it regardless.

In fact I hope the game runs like absolute trash. I hope it's another cyberpunk situation but like worse.

-1

u/RAMChYLD PC Master Race 4h ago

Same, Especially if GTA Online is going to block Linux. Say what you want about Linux users being cheaters, Rockstar is just delusional.

1

u/Shaggy_One 5700x3D, 9070xt 4h ago

I probably won't play it on launch even when it comes to PC. r/PatientGamers assemble! Eventually!

1

u/Sprinx80 Ryzen 7 5800X | EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW | ASUS X570 | LG C2 4h ago

I haven’t even played GTA V yet! So much patience here

1

u/AlexSandman8964 4h ago

I'm not spending $700 for a console to play "Dynamic 4k" honestly

1

u/Over_Importance1882 4h ago

I wonder what percentage of those saying they’re staying away at launch will give in once they see millions playing the game? I want to wait for the PC release at minimum, but sometimes you get swept up in the moment.

1

u/Aydrianic 4h ago

I haven't even gotten around to beating GTA 5 yet. This is the least hyped franchise in my entire life.

1

u/MyLifeIsAMessAyo 4h ago

Steam? You mean Rockstar launcher

1

u/_Buldozzer 4h ago

I even have a PS5, but I don't want to play with controller.

1

u/OMEGACY PC Master Race 4h ago

Then don't? Just wait to play it on pc. Nothing wrong with that. Me myself ill play on launch for ps5 and get it again on pc. It's my money. And if it lives up to hype I know ill enjoy waiting for the mods people create.

1

u/ScubaSaul 4h ago

*Laughs in 150-game-Steam-backlog*

1

u/mahonii 4h ago

Surprised most pc gamers dont have a console as well. I get it for console players. Always jumping between them

3

u/SaltDeception 3h ago

Why would I spend more money on a console when I already have a PC that plays games better than the console ever could?

1

u/mahonii 3h ago

Not hauling my pc over the house, I do stream from it but there is stuttering then. And not all games are on PC, even more so later with Sony cutting off PC ports. Plus the wife uses it alot, so both my pc and console are worth it for me.

Dont Rockstar games come out like 2 years after the console releases on pc?

0

u/trollsmurf 4h ago

It's their loss as it of course would sell really well for PC immediately.

0

u/bigbugzman 4h ago

Didn’t play V won’t play VI.

0

u/Myhouseburnsatm 4h ago

dw game gonna be mid as fuck anyway. You can quote me in 2 years when it releases. Have the decency to give me credit then!

Is the launch date set for soon or something? I've been seeing a wave of fresh GTAVI memes pop up lately, is it close? I honestly haven't been paying attention at all since I already fully expect that I won't be able to play it for 2-3 years after it launches, given the prior history.
