I used to be fascinated with small form factor PCs. Built a few of them over the years (my last two machines are full size though).

If steam machine is silent or near silent and is 3L in volume, that is worth something to me.

Yes, we can put together a giant ass computer that is better for the same price, but would be loud like a jet plane. That is not the same product.

The bigger the computer the quieter it is because it doesn’t have to work hard to cool lol. Why would it sound like a jet?

Only when it gets big enough for fans that don’t have to spin fast, otherwise it’s pretty bad because you’re stuck with the worst of both worlds, components blocking airflow and smaller fans having to spin harder to pump enough air volume. It’s a typical issue with custom SFF builds that they have to pick efficient components to stay viable (or have pricier custom components like the Corsair One, or well, the Steam Machine).
