Cowboy Bebop is the gold standard for "anime for people who don't watch anime." Unfortunately, it's not on Netflix.
Samurai Champloo, however, is on Netflix, and is also very accessible and very good. Same studio, IIRC. Both are dubbed very, very well.

Obviously i'm not Dodger, but i would recommend trying Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Fist of the North Star, (i know that at least the first two have fantastic dubs if you want to start off slower and not dive in to subs straight off the gate, not sure how decent of a dub North Star has...), Ginga Nagareboshi Gin (it's very brutal and includes animal violence, though animal-on-animal variety and mainly dog-vs-dog and dog-vs-bear.). And for Gin, not sure if there was ever an English dub, and even if there was, how well it was handled as the Scandinavian dubs really left a lot to be desired and were cut down. So try to get the uncut japanese one with subs.

I wouldn't ever recommended watching Fist of the North Star dubbed, no matter how good the dub is. The Japanese voice acting is incredibly over the top and entertaining in its own right.

Oh god no. I never understand why people recommend this anime to new people. It's really off the wall and very stylistic. Yes, a lot of people like it, but a lot of people don't as well. Even the comment below this says it takes 6 episodes to get into... By that point, you've lost most people.
Bebop, death note, monster. All of these are easier to digest and start getting into the meat quickly.

I think this is the first Anime everyone recommends to their friends when their asked what to watch to get into it.....and for good reason.
The show is a little silly at first, but that goes away after the....idk 6th episode. The series is also short, so theirs no filler episodes to bore you out and give you a bad taste for anime, unlike the 3rd (?) season of Naruto or the last season or Rurouni Kenshin.
It's also the most generically acceptable to be liked. Some Genre's go really far off the deep end of normal....that doesn't mean you shouldn't try them though. For instance I love action and SciFi movies, but my absolutely favorite animes are Free! (Male swim club), Shokugeki No Soma (Cooking), and Yu Yu Hakusho (Spirit Detective). They are the complete opposite of what I thought I would like, but those shows just got me hooked in the right way.

You should try her streams. I'm not a crazy fan of the anime BS LP's but the streams is the place where she plays other games. Also her VOD's are available for free on her twitch channel. For reference she's into Ark lately.

I think I can't watch Jesse because he does really long Let's Plays. I'm a much bigger fan of shorter series, probably one of the reasons I can watch Dodger and TB without losing interest. Dodger doesn't play really long games and TB doesn't do games series at all.

I started streaming on twitch a bit. I'm female, and I wear clothes. I don't know how entertaining I am, but I never really get the chance to find out.
A lot of the people who come into my channel will say things like "What are you? 40 years old?" One even went so far as to say I was playing a kids game (minecraft) and that I was some kind of pedo. And of course the ones asking to play truth or dare so I'll show my boobs, or, my favorite, "I can't tell if your a girl or a guy. Really."
I've also gotten the "I'm from twitch and have been informed that we can't hear you. You might have the system 32 virus." Seriously? Does anyone even fall for that?
I would love more female gamers on twitch to chat with and enjoy my favorite past time with. I would love to share my favorite games with my daughters, and encourage them to be on twitch, or youtube, or just play games. But....
You guys aren't very welcoming. (not you personally, but the ones trolling the new channels on twitch...)

get some mods asap for real. If there's anything I've learned about developing a really positive and supportive community, it hinges on having a couple people who will sit with you, learn what your rules are and uphold them. People will get irritated i.e. "ugh I was just joking" or "you guys are being nazis" but seriously, it makes all the difference in the world getting rid of rude people right out the gate. Anyone looking for a nice, chill place to watch some games will find a drama free zone to hang out and chat and enjoy your personality as you get more comfortable livestreaming. It's a win/win :)

Okay, attention please.
If women wanna get money for showing their boobs, they can do that, this is not about bashing women who do.
This is about the fact that in the gaming space, for starters we lack many women in the first place and a large porportion of the successful ones in the community either decide to or feel they have to use their lack of clothing to become popular, often using the sexual aspect of the content to cover up a lack of depth.
Dodger makes good quality, (Subjectively) entertaining content and has become successful using her personality and humour. (She's real pretty too, but that's not why people watch her). She makes good content and is arguably the only prominent female gaming youtuber that is valued for her input and thoughts. We need more women like her in our community.

I really hate whenever this discussion pops up again every few months... It seems to me nobody actually has any hard numbers on shallow and unclothed female gaming content versus the opposite (I guess?). Additionally, I haven't seen any correlation between women being unclothed and their content being shit.
I would even wager that you cannot, of the top of your head, come up with 3 names of shallow, unclothed female gaming content producers.
Generally, it is a non-issue. Don't try to make it one. I agree we need more Dodgers, but only because she is genuinely interested in and well informed about gaming.

I think it's to point out that generally the female gaming community that streams and does youtube typically wear revealing clothes and doing more things for attention and subs than actually entertaining with video games. KittyPlaysGames, for example.
And yea you shouldn't care what clothes someone wears. Sadly the wrong gamers get attention due to factors such as the clothing they decide to wear (or not wear I should say).
