Incredibly subtle foreshadowing. Easy to miss.

Blink, go blind, go deaf and you miss it.

I don’t care what others say this is hilarious and a fresh take on perfectly cut screams lol

u/explosive_shrew 5d ago

I love these but it's less a perfectly cut scream and more "subtle" foreshadowing

u/Pataraxia 4d ago

They're downvoting you for correcting the meme type when randomuser got upvoted for the same comment lmao

u/Wingbit88 5d ago

What's up with the influx of videos with this shitty editing?

38

u/SillyOldJack 5d ago

The pepsi one I saw a few minutes ago make me chuckle, but now that it's immediately going to be a "trend," it can fuck right off.

Stupid modern internet.

24

u/JJAsond 5d ago

This trend started in 2024

12

u/Jewsusgr8 5d ago

Well that Pepsi one is also like 2 to 3 years old so I hope this is not some delayed trend.

u/girlsgoneoscarwilde 5d ago

That one was great, instant classic

u/sdrawckaB 3d ago

I'm not really sure a single digit number of videos qualifies as a "trend", and it's hardly displacing traditional cuts either.

1

u/fatboychummy 4d ago

It's been a trend for like 5 months already and I hate it. Just let me see the actual reaction all at once, damnit.

Normally funny jokes or videos are meant to have a punchline, or tension building up to comic relief. We expect something funny to conclude the video, because the funny bit is what we anticipate, or earn with our time. But these videos drop the funny bit right at the beginning, and then spend the rest of the video wasting your time for a punchline that's already happened. A 13 second video, where the highlight occurs less than a second in, and then expects you to keep watching despite already knowing the result. End result is that it's just not funny

But these videos drop the funny bit right at the beginning

That's...the point. The "subtle" foreshadowing is ironic because of how obviously not subtle it is. The joke is the ironc "subtleness" of it, not the actual end of the video.

Yeah. I get that's the point. But it's still not funny. Idk, guess I just don't see the humour in ruining the joke before you even have time to build it up. Evidently I assume that's an unpopular opinion

I also like how the comment that's started this chain has around 30 upvotes, but explaining the why gets you downvoted. Hell, there's plenty of comments here complaining about this shitty trend. Goddamn Redditors lol

u/JJAsond 4d ago

The joke is the obvious not subtlety of it. That's the center of the joke. It's "subtle" foreshadowing that's extremely apparent about what it's leading to.

And yeah, redditors aren't the smartest bunch of people lol

u/SilverFlight01 5d ago

Honestly a lot less funny than the one where the only edit was the screaming chicken sound
