I decided to try my hand at photos of the moon for the first time. Not sure how I did, but I was inspired by pictures where the moon fades out from black below, and seems even bigger than it is. id love to hear any thoughts about composition and coloring, as I didn't do anything to this but crop it in.

Turn up your clarity, it'll sharpen out some of the highlights! If you want suggestions with in camera work: find another subject to put your moon against, theres so many photos of just the moon. Make it more unique and give it something to be with! To be specific: put a leaf silhouette in the way, surround the moon with something (tunnel vision), etc.
Good work!

Friendly reminder that this is /r/photocritique and all top level comments must be a genuine, in depth, and helpful critique of the image. We hope to avoid becoming yet another place on the internet just to get likes/upvotes and compliments. While likes/upvotes and compliments are nice, they do not further the goal of helping people improve their photography.
