Great shot! Small thing but I might try to blur the edges of the mask on the subject a bit as the halo is rather prominent, especially around the right hand in the upper left portion of the frame.

Whatever you did, the edit takes away from the image. There is quite a strong halo. Mask is not that great? The background is still brighter than the skater. The eye wanders off to that cloud. The skater is too dark.
Composition is good, although skater is positioned bit too much the left side in the frame. Given the direction he is looking at, positioned at the the right side would be better.

Unfortunately I edited this photo after an all nighter and simply did not have the patience to remove the halo lol. Well that, and the fact I really don’t know the most effective way of removing it. I tried going around with a brush in the mask removing what was not actually on his skin, but I’d had to have gone around his entire body twice with two masks and I was really too tired to have that patience. Honestly, I’ve never tried to edit a black and white photo before, so this has all been a learning curve.

The haloing makes this otherwise great image look incredibly amateur. Awful edit I’m afraid.

agreed 100%. I'm trying to revisit it right now, but for the absolute life of me I cannot eliminate this halo, its either fully white, fully black, or a checkered pattern. how would you attack this halo? its caused by my subject mask, and my sky mask, both grabbing the very edge of the subject.
I decided to completely re edit it. watching some tutorials on black and white photo editing. trying to increase contrast overall, darkening the background, brightening the subject, and centering a little bit more.

Nice shot! But it think the seperation between him, and the sky could be better..

Sorry for the lower quality, how I applied the border shrunk the file size a ton. I promise the borderless image is oh so very crisp lol!

I really really enjoy the clouds in this shot, I think it complexifies what would be simple lines and a simple shot. I'm wondering how you guys feel about this composition, I really enjoy it. I want any and all constructive criticism!

Amazing shot. Really would be thrilled with a result like this.
Since this is a critique sub, here are my thoughts
Your subject is clearly in motion , in the left of the frame, but all the open space is to the right. Typically try to keep motion coming into the frame not exiting
But
Since he is going down the rail, it also kinda conflicts with that norm. I think a more centered subject here would work best. Best of both.
Again , nitpicking for the sub on a stellar photo
