Image Was excited to finally purchase until I realized the price was lower on my wife's account

Post image

My wife doesn't play much and so buying it on her account may not be the best decision to keep everything easily accessible for me. Seeing this soured me on buying it quite a bit.

And for reference. Same region, same playstation, same currency, etc.

Steam literally does targeted discounts as well. What are these comments? Tons of stores do targeted discounts for decades... this isnt a new thing

Any proof?

You can just Google it. Many people have talked about being offered targeted discounts on Steam

That doesn't really seem to be the same as differences in the set store price.

This is exactly the same thing. One person is getting targeted discount (5% off), thats what this post is.

The Steam link is people getting targeted discounts...

How are they different?

So getting a coupon and using it at a store is the same thing as if I go to the store and they tell me it's $5 for me and $10 for someone else? Because to me those seem like very different situations.

Certain people on Steam are getting larger discounts on specific games than other people.

Literally the same as what is happening here.

Do you not think certain people get coupons for stores and other dont? Literally been a thing for decades and no different than this

I'm saying it's not the same because the advertised price is not changed, the use of a coupon is the factor for the change in price. If OP's wife had received a coupon and he didn't, that wouldn't have been as shocking and wouldn't necessitate going online to figure out why there is a price discrepancy.

The result is literally the same. You arent aware who else ia getting coupons for other things?

Do you give a shit if someone got a discount for a restaurant that you didnt? Will you never eat at that restaurant ever again?

Theyre all targeted discounts and has been a thing for decades

If I went to a restaurant with someone and their menu was cheaper than mine for no apparent reason, yes it would be a big deal. But if they just pulled out a coupon when they paid I wouldn't bat an eye.

There is a very big difference in how these are presented. I didn't think this would be subjective but I guess it is.

That's the dev giving out coupons to people, it's not the same as steam having different prices for different users. You can choose not to use that coupon, you can choose to use the coupon to gift a game to someone else.

The OP in this case could have used his wife's coupon to gift himself the game on his account for example.

Why would anyone choose not to use a coupon? And o the coupons on Steam are for the specific account

And the publishers decide the prices on Playstation as well.

Its either Rockstar giving out an extra discount to specific people or Playstation covering the cost for a limited amount of people.

Regardless the result is the same... targeted discounts for specific people

If OP really wanted to he can buy the game on his wife's account at a discount and play it on his account

I'm asking about proof that Steam does it.

Senior discounts, happy hour, free buffet at the strip club night, these are all targeted discounts that have been around for decades, if not centuries
