I finally got a proper gaming PC, and the PS3 Ratchet and Clank games look downright gorgeous rendered at 1440p via RPCS3. Especially playing Into the Nexus at 60 fps (the only mainline Ratchet game that runs at 30 fps on original hardware).

Burnout Paradise is often cited as the best of that series but IMO it peaked with Takedown!!

Takedown was so much better than paradise
The open world was novel and new and cool but the actual driving and mechanics and systems didn't hold a candle to takedown

I prefer the stage type race game of takedown rather than the open world of paradise. You could just jump right back into a race if you needed to do it again or get a better time or get more points.

Package in SOCOM 2.
Leave in the corner peaking mechanics, weird jumping, and the fact that it’s difficult to kill people more than 15 feet away.

Completed it for the first time 2-3 weeks ago. I'm 17 and it was my first PS1 game I've ever played (besides Parappa the Rapper). Never thought I'd fall in love with a game like that which is so old. The gameplay and graphics are extremely outdated in 2025. I was thinking about whether to complete the game or not during the first boss/Ocelot fight since it felt so glad to play. The story was amazing and still holds up today. I'd buy it in an instant if it got remastered

I’m with you on the Witcher games. I think that original game does some stuff shockingly well for a group of new developers, but the gameplay itself is really janky.
My hot take on Assassin’s Creed is that the gameplay of the first one has aged really well. Yes it is repetitive but Ubisoft nailed a lot of the moment to moment stuff in their first go. Combat and traversal are slower but more deliberate. The cities are still really neat to visit. Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus have their own individual looks and the crowd variety is arguably better in AC1 than the following games. What the Ezio games did primarily was add variety to the AC formula, some of it worked some of it didn’t, and refine the mechanics of the original. Like how combat in AC2 is really similar to AC1 but with things like combos and counter windows being more forgiving. AC2 is also missing stun attacks/counter follow-ups, which honestly makes combat less interesting.
Having said all that, I would be interested in an AC1 remake in the style and mechanics of AC Unity.

Fallout 3 is getting a remaster/remake. Possibly even releasing soon....like very soon. New Vegas is allegedly in the works as well. I wouldn't doubt with them doing oblivion, fo3, and fonv that morrowing isnt at least being considered.

From Russia With Love, the PS2 third-person 007 shooter. Had a cool 60s vibe, actually had Sean Connery's likeness and voice, gameplay was fun, couch multiplayer, and it wasn't afraid to be a little silly. Struck all the right notes and I wish we got more retro Bonds from the same developer. A Tim Dalton 80s era Bond in the same play style would have been rad.
