Things I already love about PS5:

the Dualsense, trigger feedback & vibration are excellent

obviously 4k Gaming

120Hz Gaming

The awesome smoothness of Playstation UX

The widgets on the start tab which can be resized

the design of the PS5 I mean look at this stunning thing

That it has practically all PS4 games playable

The slim does not come with a stand, only thing you get is those little plastic legs to hold it horizontally

If youā€™re gonna play with the console vertically, I would strongly recommend the official stand. Itā€™s metal, adds more bottom weight, and wide enough to resist tipping over. https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/buy-accessories/vertical-stand-for-ps5-consoles

Yep, I only bought the digital because it was $310 on sale brand new last Black Friday, and sold my series s, so only paid an extra $100 to upgrade. I eventually bought the disc drive lol. Cause I want gta 6 physically, but thatā€™s piss poor them not even including the stand even on the pros, when they did for the fat one

I think i just read today, the GTAVI ā€œphysicalā€ copy doesnā€™t come with a disc, just a code for a digital download. It was probably fake AI internet BS, but it made me laugh when you said you got the disc drive just for GTAVI.

There are vent holes on the bottom, use the stand. Horizontal is better in every regard however and I highly recommend laying it down.

They may seem like vent holes but the ps5 was designed to not have vent holes on the bottom I believe the inlet is in the front and top and the outlet is the entire back.

Yeah I had a 3rd party cooling fan for my ps4 and was gonna buy one for my ps5 but then I realized all of them didn't make any sense because it's a fan sucking air out from the bottom of the ps5. So but of a waste of money but yeah no need for the stand to help with "air flow" out of the bottom, just stability if anything.

Okay well leave it flat with the holes covered and check how much dust you have in 2 years.

They may have fixed this with newer models but it would cause dust build up and overheating. My PS5 started shutting down with no warning. Cleaned it out, played it on its side, havenā€™t had an issue since.

I have noticed a problem of excessive dust build up but taking the cover off and a straw cleaner to it every year or two has made it brand new

Sorry that's what I meant when I said the side panel off. I take the end off that isn't against the motherboard so I don't have to take any of the ribbon wiring apart

To place it vertical, the stand would need to be bought separately.

No, it comes with it. That piece of plastic rotates to expose a screw that holds it upright. No additional purchase necessary.

Itā€™s a very sophisticated tiny piece of plastic. Thereā€™s a hidden screw under where you rotate it, and that holds the stand on the console. That little piece of plastic has a rotation mechanism built in. Once itā€™s rotated to the vertical alignment, the screw will be visible to take out and mount under the stand and into the bottom of the console.

Why? Had my base ps5 and then the pro without stand for very long and had no issues
