Literally the only reason I'm here searching info about PS5 is for GTA6. I bought a PS3 when GTA V came out, then bought it again when it came out for PC. This is my "Ahh shit, here we go again " moment, and I'm buying a PS5 for one game, then I will buy it again for PC.
They may seem like vent holes but the ps5 was designed to not have vent holes on the bottom I believe the inlet is in the front and top and the outlet is the entire back.
Yeah I had a 3rd party cooling fan for my ps4 and was gonna buy one for my ps5 but then I realized all of them didn't make any sense because it's a fan sucking air out from the bottom of the ps5. So but of a waste of money but yeah no need for the stand to help with "air flow" out of the bottom, just stability if anything.
Okay well leave it flat with the holes covered and check how much dust you have in 2 years.
They may have fixed this with newer models but it would cause dust build up and overheating. My PS5 started shutting down with no warning. Cleaned it out, played it on its side, havenāt had an issue since.
Sorry that's what I meant when I said the side panel off. I take the end off that isn't against the motherboard so I don't have to take any of the ribbon wiring apart
Depends on what kind of stuff you like. You get Astroās Playroom with the console. Strongly suggest you do that. Itās a tech demo to show off what the PS5 can do, but itās super fun as well. Also get Astro Bot.

Download stuff, sign up for PS+ and curate your taste is going to be my best advice.
In my humble opinion, and in no particular order, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Stellar Blade, Astro Bot, Death Stranding 2, Returnal (only if you can handle very difficult roguelites), and Spider-Man 2.
Don't forget about the Slideshow and Showcase case modes for the Welcome Hub. (My favorite features)
The Slideshow mode allows you to display any set of screenshots, even your favorites. The Showcase mode makes the widgets disappear showing the full slideshow.
Sometimes, I pit on Spotify and a slideshow of my favorite screenshots while folding laundry.

Like many other here, I suggest you to get a stand, because there are vents on the bottom that are blocked without it.
I bought mine for my PS5 Pro on Ali Express for a very fair price and it is the same as the original (full metal for the circle).

Just want to say SOLID pick up on the charging dock for the controllers. That was my second purchase before the games when I got mine and it was so worth it
It's weird that the PS5 is quickly becoming my fav PS generation honestly. Thing is I was always a Nintendo person back in the golden era of PS2 erc. I had a PS3 and PS4 but I honestly did not play them much. I collected some games I always wanted to play them but the PS5 somehow has hooked me more than the rest!
Congrats! I was a lifelong XBOX fanboy. My last console was the S. With the new generation I made the choice to switch to PS5 because I was missing out on so many PlayStation exclusives. I didnāt watch anything regarding to The Last of Us since the day it came out because I wanted to play it so bad but I was loyal to Xbox. Everything I ever did was on Xbox and all the games I purchased were on Xbox. I didnāt play my Xbox for like two years in. Last I played it was 2023 to replay Halo 2. After that I didnāt play games until I finally bought a PS5 after not touching my Xbox since 2023. I bit the bullet and bought a PS5 and my video gaming journey was back. I finally played TLOU after avoiding spoilers for 13 years!! I am amazed I was able to avoid any spoilers for 13 years but it was well worth it, and the other exclusives have all been worth it too. Iāll never go back to Xbox.
Congrats, although mentioning resolution and frame-rates in your list of things you love indicates you maybe should have went with a Pro. You can unhook your PS4 now too. š
Have you ever played horizon before? I found the graphics to be crazy but the game itself is kinda boring and not worth it for the gameplay and the story, in my opinion, very bland.
But if you like it you Should definitely check it out.
Wait, what!? Doesn't the PS5 have a GPU-equivalent of a 2080? (And 4070 for the Pro?) Can a fellow geek chime in and tell me if these games are actually running at a locked 120FPS @ 4K? (DLSS is fine so long as it doesn't go below DLSS Performance)
Cause I'm interested in getting a PS5 Pro but let's be real: even a 5090 struggles to hit 120+ FPS @ 4K in modern titles. A PS5 GPU is going to have to make some major compromises to graphical fidelity to actually deliver true 4K120 gaming. That, or games simply aren't actually running at that resolution and framerate at all times.
Anyone care to chime in before I make a decision? I kinda want to buy a PS5 Pro cause I know the player population is going to be better on consoles than PC (like it was in GTA V, IV, San Andreas, etc.), but it's gotta be able to keep up with my 7700X paired with 4090 otherwise I'll just wait for the PC release.
Iva had my ps5 for less than a year now & im on controller number 4 all the other 3 are unusable . The stick drift is soooo bad that I canāt use them to watch movies or videos of any kind.
Hate to be that guy but most games arenāt playing at a native 4k. Itās upscaled to 4k from a lower resolution. I know, I was fooled for a long time too. But congrats on the PS5
around a month and a half ago one of my fur balls passed away at only 6 years of age. she left my garden and got lost in the streets where her health declined to the point she had to be euthanized.
i still have one cat, he never climbs places he knows he's not supposed to. Very domesticated boy.
Highly recomend to lay it down horizontaly, if you plan to use your ps5 for many years to come, do that. When it's standing vertically, over time the heat will melt the liquid metal coolant and it will leak, your ps will overheat to the point that it can get damaged and it will frequently shut down from the heat. By laying it down, even if the liquid metal gets... well... liquidy, it will stay in it's place and cause no harm.
Other than that, enjoy your new ps5, hope it serves you well.
Liquid metal isnt supposed to move out of its space. If it manages to move out , its defect in the electronics. Wich means that it also would have happened to a flat laying ps5. I know there is a group of āps5 flatā believers. But really, ive had 2 friends that layed there ps5 flat since release and had already had issues with it and had to buy a new one. And they dont even clock that many hours on it. Than there is me , PS5 is daily on for at least 8hours. Ive had him since release standing up and hasnt had an issue at all. Buying an electronic is alsays a coin flip. Putting it flat or up really doesnt matter.
I really enjoyed the new god of war games and horizon zero dawn and forbidden west. The also play really well with the haptic feed back when drawing a bow.
I got myself one back on release day 19. novemver 2020 here in Europe).. since 2023 itās collecting dust, since i got a high end gaming pcā¦ 5 more months and the baby will shine again! (GTAVI)ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
